The spanners have had a kind couple of home games against two demoralized teams. Swansea ran rings around them.

Exactly and there fans have that attitude aswell.

You think? They have more deluded expectations than we do I think. Have heard at least two since the Carroll signed saying they can finish top 7...

Not the ones I've met, they think they're shit lol. their biggest gripe with us is that we think we're better than we actually are...a common opinion.

They're in big trouble. It's not that I don't think Rodgers is a decent manager, but fuck me are they short up top. Can't believe that the cheapskate board members played hardball over Dempsey to such a degree. They made Levy look like a spendthrift with that one. I get that they're trying to cut back after that colossal clusterfuck of a spending spree by Kenny and Commoli last year. I get also that they didn't want to spend too much on a 29 year old who isn't going to hold his value. Come on though, £5-6m on a guy who scored 25 goals last season? It should be a no brainer, especially seeing as it's a player that had been high on their wanted list since the start of the Summer. There is no greater commodity in football than a player who can score goals at the highest level. The dumb asses thought they could hold out though and that eventually Fulham would have to cave in because, of course, why would Dempsey choose to join any club but Liverpool!!?

Then again, even Dempsey wouldn't have solved their problems on his own. Can't believe that they didn't bring in another quality forward on top of that, even if on loan. They are now stuck with no penetration and will be reliant upon a 17 year old to spark them for the next 4-5 months at least. They don't have midfield goalscorers to help pick up the load either.

If I was a 'Pool fan I'd be extremely pissed right now, doubly so because they have an, on paper, very strong looking midfield and defense (though Reina is creaking). It all falls apart in the final third though and for that reason I can see them finishing midtable.

I thought Gerrard was really average yesterday. Probably just a one off, but you do wonder if the injuries and age are starting to catch up with him. Joe Allen looks like a good buy though - he's a very tidy player.

One injury to Suarez though and they could be in big trouble as you can't see many others chipping in with goals.

Not just a one-off, they took many more points without him in the team than they did with him last season. His one good performance was the hat-trick against Everton, the rest of the time he was fit he was very mediocre.

TBH, when all the fusspots on here, predicting that we would be lucky to finish seventh :ROFLMAO:, were doom-monger panciky fidgeting over Liverpool, as per usual, and that once Gerrard was back they would march triumphantly up the table, I did point out that at his age and with his injuries it was a little bit previous to even imagine he was going to be the same player he used to be.

I'm sure there will be flasahes of the old player, and the rest of the time he won't necessarily be consistently awful, still a premier level player - but folk really have to stop thinking of him as the guy that Chelsea tried to buy - IMVHO, of course.

I am not going to laugh at anyone...

Especially as we haven't made the best start either and could find ourselves equally short up front. We have shipped silly goals and could just of easily have lost at home to Norwich, let alone Arsenal.

No no no, how about we just focus on us and let other teams do whatever else around us and we will see who finishes where at the end of the season. If no one has learned over all the previous years to not laugh at the woes of others less it happen to you, then last season alone should have been enough.

After watching us in the first half yesterday. "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" comes to mind

I have no love for Liverpool, but I do like Rodgers. I feel bad for him to have such weak backing from the board. I'd be willing to bet if his name was "King Kenny" he'd have had double the transfer budget available.

I did like him, but he's started acting like a massive wanker since joining them.

I like Rodgers but his moaning about not having a striker when he sold Dirk Kuyt for £880,000 is ridiculous....

I didn't watch them much last season, but the few times I did see them I thought he was less convincing than usual which I just put down to being out for so long. I must admit I can't really remember the last time I saw saw him take a game by the scruff of the neck. That drive he used to have was something else, but it's been missing for a while now. His passing and shooting are still right up there though.
