Unless they strengthen at centre back and right back before the end of the window they won't finish top 4

Liverpool showed last season that your defence can be as shit as it wants if you get goals.

I don't think you can say they have too much quality
I'd say they have a stronger front line than us, Liverpool & Arsenal with Mata, Rooney & RVP and that's what normally makes the difference at the top end of the league.

Moyes had no idea how to get the best out of them as he's always prioritised a solid midfield over creativity but under a coach with the experience of LVG he should be able to get them three clicking
I think it will break down in to this next season

Man City 1st-2nd
Chelsea 1st-2nd

Arsenal 3rd-5th
Man Utd 3rd-6th
Liverpool 3rd-6th
Tottenham 3rd-7th
Everton 4th-7th
agree 100% with that. I'd imagine the lack of Europe will ensure that utd don't pick up the niggly injuries you get playing wed/sat for half the season. I don't think everton will be as good this year but Liverpool will be the interesting ones and how Suarez leaving impacts the mentality of the team (do they still believe...)

Apparently he was nowhere near the fitness level required by Van Gal, pushing to hard oh dear.....

weird, remembering he came from Pch's Shampton.. wonder if this is a reaction by LVG to the Maureen comments about Shaw upsetting the dressing room..

Can't say I find a young promising player picking up a injury very funny tbh.

It's not the injury I find funny, it's the fact that:
a) He cost so much
b) LvG knew he wasn't fit and made him train alone
c) LvG knew he wasn't fit and then went and played him in games anyway

Had to chuckle at some of the headlines showing United fans dissatisfaction at the Glazers again.
Last I remember they invested 70 million for Moyes and have already put their hands into the United coffers for Herrara and Shaw.

They have aleady tried to blame Moyes for their demise, so at what point will they finally realise it was Ferguson who ran the team into the ground by allowing it to age without adequate replacements? And my personal belief that he did it knowingly to preserve his place in the clubs history as he has previously quoted his team rebuilds started when the average age got to 28, yet he allowed that team to get to 30.

Fair enough. Although he always struck me as the "Ricky Hatton" type who off season didn't give 2 shits but when it's go time he works hard. Could be wrong though.

Worked out really well for Hatton

Di Maria is a panic buy for me. What £60m? Ridiculous. Great player but he's worth half that.

It's simple for me, United need 3 more top quality players. They are Benatia, William Carvalho and Vidal. Apart from Herrera their midfield is utter shite, Jones and in particular Smalling don't fill you with confidence either.

Di Maria will help but it won't solve the fundamental issues they have in the core of their team. Where will he play in this 3-5-2 system? Left wing back? Can't imagine Mata will be too happy to see him occupying the no10 role.

If they're playing two strikers then surely getting shut of Welbeck is complete madness too. If one of Rooney and RVP get injured then they're relying on Hernandez who's nowhere near good enough.

Circus at Man Utd and as it stands LVG and Woodward have lots to do.
