Sorry to bump such an old thread but heard an advert for them on the radio today and had to laugh at the last four digits of the phone number, 1966.

That is one thing that truly pisses me off about them.

It's hilarious. I have seen their shop at Lakeside which has a list of their honours on the window outside.
It has the few genuine honours, all 3 or 4 of them, and then it lists '3 players in the England World Cup team of 1966'

It's amusing. If it were Gillingham it would cringeworthy, let alone a self proclaimed biggish club.

Not sure if restarting this one before we play them is a good idea though! Bound to lose now!!!

West Ham have a big support and most I know just cant afford to go, if they sell tickets at the OS for dirt cheap like they said, they will be fine tbh

Is that the sky commentary? I can't access it at the moment but I remember Tyler and Gray and Gray actually said 'oh no' when Stalteri scored!
Yup it was, Martin Tyler says it.

What I loved about that game was Etherington..wasn't long before he'd said he left us to go to West Ham to join a "big club"

It's my most hated game of the season. I watch this game through the slits in my fingers. WH fans are the dregs of society, (apart from my family who are all WH fans, they're excused), they've got this chip on their shoulder about everything to do with us. I really hope we tear them a new one, and some. Going to be a tough night though, plenty of emotion as they're doing a Bobby Moore remembrance service. Just hope our fans do the honorable thing and don't lower themselves to WH standards.

Cheaper than £1 a tkt for kids and 2 for a £10 for adults? That was the price on the old pamphlet they thrust through my door end of last season. Not sure on current prices but I can't see demand shooting up +200%

I wonder how much of this they'll mention;

Moore left West Ham on bad terms and was never again fully welcome at the club. The dispute went back to 1966 when he had sought a move to Tottenham; he believed that, with Spurs, he would have a better chance of winning the title. West Ham refused to sell - as the club was entitled to do in the era before freedom of contract - and Moore's determination to go almost prevented him from playing in the World Cup.

When his contract expired on 30 June, he was not only unattached to a club, but unaffiliated to the FA and ineligible to play for the national team. Alf Ramsey had to summon Moore and the West Ham manager, Ron Greenwood, to the England squad's base at Hendon before the two sides agreed to resolve their differences.

The dispute simmered on and, when Greenwood vetoed another transfer to Spurs four years later - which Moore, then 29, saw as his last chance of a big move - the relationship between the two deteriorated further. Finally, Moore was told he could leave on a personally lucrative free transfer at the end of the 1973-74 season.

West Ham reneged even on that promise and sold him to Fulham for £25,000. Although he still held the affection of the fans, Moore never went back to Upton Park, except for work. A friend told me how, driving through east London, Moore gestured towards the ground and said 'that's West Ham over there' as if it were somewhere he'd visited once, rather than the scene of so many of his triumphs.

But of course they can now use his name to sell a few 'Moore than just a football shirt's.

I'd love to see a few deals like that at the lane. Even our pre season games cost more than that.

An early rendition of "Only one Bobby Moore" from our fans would be fitting?

It will completely confuse the knuckle draggers.

"Why me and not Moyes?" asks West Ham's

  • Reuters, Friday February 22 2013
LONDON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce questioned on Friday why his job is under more scrutiny than his Everton counterpart David Moyes when both bosses' contracts are up at the end of the season.
Speculation has continued to grow about Allardyce's future at West Ham with club hero Paolo Di Canio linked with his job after the Italian resigned at third tier Swindon Town four days' ago.
"It's a bit of an old hat story because we've been talking about it for such a long time," Allardyce, whose direct style of play does not appeal to many West Ham fans, told reporters.
"But you haven't been talking about David Moyes in the same context.
"His contract is up at Everton this year and it doesn't look like there has been any negotiations.
"I've clearly explained to everybody several times this is a both parties' agreement. Both parties will sort it out privately and confidentially when the time is right."
Allardyce has yet to discuss a new deal with West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold, but they have said talks would start when the club's Premier League safety was secured.
West Ham, who host Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, are 11th in the Premier League with 30 points from 26 games. Everton are 12 points and five places above West Ham. (Reporting by Toby Davis; editing by Alison Wildey)

Any thoughts of disrupting their day regarding one of the greatest English legends is pathetic, the fans may be a bunch of twats but he was the captain if our greatest ever triumph.

We should show it the respect if deserves
