Knew he'd be in for a lot of stick I guess?

Pretty Scathing article, but a lot of it makes sense to me. As the reporter says, Ramos looks like he might be the silver lining to a very large cloud!

if you ask me , to much is being read into all of this!

Press are just dragging it out now trying to keep the story going!

Who cares if levy wasn;t there! I couldn't care less where is was!

Bottled it really, didn't he?

I can understand the potential reason as not to spoil the welcoming of Ramos with questions on the handling of Jol - but I don't buy it. I just don't think he has the answers that will ever put him in a good light, so he'll just permanently dodge the questions, especially if we start winning soon and the media find another dead horse to flog.

They are slagging Levy off when he wasn't there can you imagine what it would have been like if he had, they would have tried to crucify him and even though the press conference was to introduce Ramos they would have ignored him.

I think Ramos is a bit too clever for our press too, he took the whole thing through Gus Poyet translation but he seemed to understand the questions in English then right at the end he says in pretty well perfect English "I speak to my players in English but I speak to you in Spanish".
Basically he told them that they can talk to him only on his terms.

Spot on...without the Special One around they've got to have something to write about. I really hope we leverage this situation to our benefit - siege mentality and all that, as the media are clearly loving the recent comings and goings.

I thought Commoli did the translating??? looked like he was doing it.

Anyway, Levy wasn't there as the Director of Football was, he is the fella responsible for FOOTBALL. It's not rocket science.

Levy appears to have ducked out in rather gutless way. Comolli didn't cover himself in glory in his place for me. I simply do not like this man. Where as Ramos came across very well. Answering questions through an interpreter was a great way of deflecting awkward moments. Ending the interview in English was classic. I really liked Martin Jol, but he is gone now so roll on the good times with Ramos, (Hopefully). The King Is dead, Long live the King.

I can honestly say that the article is shocking.

Ok the club has been through a rough time, and the board was in for critism. The board have publicly admitted that they could have handled things differently. We know they could have handled things better.

Can we not draw a line under everything now. I can completely understand Levy not being there, we wanted the conference to be about Ramo, coaching and focusing on the team - and thats what i wanted to hear.

The BBC article sounds bitter that they didnt get a chance to slaughter Levy, but we didnt want to hear about that - so 2 fingers up to the media - lets focus on the on the football from now on.

Don't you think he would have loved to be sitting there having replaced an underperforming senior manager with possibly one of the most saught after managers in world football. Persuading this guy to join a club sitting 3rd bottom and never played CL football was possibly one of the greatest recruitment achievements of any chairman since Dein persuaded Wenger to give up sushi. (yes I know it's spurs and could all still go horribly pear shaped).

He took a magnanamous view that the footballing press would only try to concentrate on the negatives and this would be uncomfortable for Ramos as well as him and rather than sit there parading his prized managerial acquisition like some would - he would do what would benefit the clubs PR.

Besides Levy has rarely courted the lime light has he.

Levy was right not to attend. It was for introducing Ramos not an opportunity for attacking the clubs handeling of Jol.

Exactly. Has Levy ever attended very few press conferences we have had?!?!
We don't have many press conferences, but from my recollection, when Jol and Santini came in, it was Arnesen who introduced them. I remember Pleat introducing Defoe.
Levy has never wanted the limelight so why should he start now?!?!

It was a good recruitment now doubt, but lets face it for 4 million a year compared to 700k at seville, it was hardly difficult to get him. I dont know any other clubs in the premiership (bar the top 4) or a other european clubs (bar an elite few) who could afford that class of mulla.

Yes , it was a non story but the bbc who have decided to go downmarket with their football coverage are showing their tabloid colours with this one .

Happily I think we all (mainly) can see this .

The press are just bitter because they wanted to batter Levy. He didn't turn up so they fired their questions at Comolli and Ramos who both dodged them. I then read headlines of farce and comedy which it clearly wasn't.
