Yes we may well have to deal with Bale leaving at some point but it's not a foregone conclusion. If we can get ourselves in the CL again and get the stadium construction going in earnest then it might (MIGHT) be enough in 2-3 years time to convince him that we will be competing to win the CL before he turns 30 (if last season's Chelsea side can win it then anybody can).

Then there's FFP which will probably reduce the number of ridiculous contracts and fees that get thrown around.

Plenty can still happen

Isn't Modric struggling for a game at Real? Against City and Barca he didn't start..

Team-------------------Played--Won--Drew--Lost--For--Against--GD--Points
Tottenham Hotspur---7---------4------2------1------13--8---------5----14
Real Madrid-----------7---------3-------2------2------14--7--------7-----11

I think this clearly shows Bale is playing in the stronger league with the stronger team. :pompous:

Luka Modric calls for Gareth Bale to swap Tottenham for Real Madrid

Luka Modric has urged Gareth Bale to join him at Real Madrid to fulfil his Champions League ambitions and make the Spanish team an 'unstoppable' force in European football.

Former Tottenham midfielder Modric

moved to the Bernabeu at the start of the season, and he wants current Spurs star Bale to join him in the Spanish capital.

The 23-year-old Welshman scored in Tottenham's 2-1 win on Wednesday that lifted them into fifth in the table, but Modric says Bale dreams of winning the Champions League - something he can achieve if he moves to Madrid.

"We used to talk and I know he wants to play Champions League football every season and has a big dream of winning the Champions League," Modric said.

"Madrid would be a great club for him to achieve his dreams. I play with Ronaldo here at Madrid and the way he just runs with the ball with such confidence and defenders back off him is exactly the same as Gareth.

"To have them both in the same team would be unstoppable."

Bale signed a new four-year deal at Spurs in the summer but, as Modric himself proved, a player will eventually get his way if he wants to leave a club - and he says Spurs must become Champions League regulars to keep hold of their star man.

"Of course Spurs want to keep Bale - he is loved by the fans and it is easy to see why," Modric added. "But they must make Champions League football this season if he is to stay.

"If he decides to leave Spurs then every top club in Europe will want him. He is an intelligent guy and is open to new experiences.

I know he sees the value in playing abroad, so when the time comes he will have a big decision to make.

"There is not a club in the world that would not want Gareth in their team. The way he plays scares defenders - and when he is in full flow there is no stopping him.

"It is not just that he has pace but he has the goals and creates goals to go with it. Already he is one of the best players in the world and he will only get better. There are some great players in the Premier League but for me Gareth is now the best and most dangerous."

I hate Real Madrid in my opinion their signing Figo was the worst thing that ever happened to football. Real Madrid started the ridiculous spending cycle.

We really need regular CL if we are to keep Bale, Sandro, Verts, Kaboul, Walker & Lloris in the long term and add more class too

People seem to forget that its these same players that are goint to be responsible for getting us 4th. So if they can't then I guess they aren't as good as we thought?

The Tottenham manager also took a swipe at the Croatian midfielder for meddling in Tottenham’s affairs, insisting he should be more worried about Real Madrid’s current poor form than the future of Bale.

“I think he should focus more on his club than ours,” Villas-Boas told a press conference.

“He has to worry about (Real’s) game against Atletico Madrid and about getting in to the quarter-finals of the Champions League

“Obviously Modric is aware of Gareth’s performances because of his love for Tottenham and the fact that he is very connected with him and this football club, but it’s completely impossible (for Bale to leave).”

A peanut M&M in a pile of turd doesn't make a dessert. You need less shit & more M&Ms...
