So you don't think it's crossed Rafa's mind "hmm, if this game's postponed then Mascherano will be able to play" as opposed to Lucas & Aquilani...

Tonight's forecast for Birmingham is for -4 with further snow showers, yet they are still trying to get the game on. (maybe fruitlessly)

To say the advantages of playing at a later date hasn't at least been thought is naive. (IMO)

tbh after what we did with Bassong at the start of the season, we are not adverse to doing similar. However when travelling fans are involved its pretty poor form.

They are clearly running scared, itll be very bad for us if this does get called off. Its obvious they are not prepared and we have a great chance of going up there and getting a result.

How can they say its that bad 2 days before? Do something about it rather than moaning.

Only thing in our favour is Sky, they wont be happy if this is off.

IMO

But the game doesn't have to called off surely! My idea would be to get all the unemployed/wasters to clear the snow in return for that weeks benefit money. Job done, the lazy bastard wasters do some work for the first time ever and I can watch my footy game.

Wooderz,

Why don't you and Olie just go up to Liverpool anyway, get pissed and pull some slappers.

Apart from Olie of course, as he is in love with kezza.

I know 25 years ago is ancient history to some of you youngsters on here but in the 84/85 season we started on 25th August against Everton away and beat them 4-1 and only lost 5 matches through to 3rd November and then didn't lose the 6th until 12th March.

One match was postponed in January because of snow - against Everton - We were on a great run and I had no doubt if it had been played on the original Saturday we would have won, the re-arranged game was a night match @ WHL which we lost 1-2 and the title challenge disappeared with a fizzle. Everton went on to win the league and the ECWC that year.

Just thought I'd mention.

Liverpool want Premier League match with Spurs called off due to freezing conditions

Liverpool have recommended to the Premier League that their match against Tottenham on Sunday be postponed on police advice due to the conditions around Anfield.

With many roads around the club's ground considered to be dangerous, they sought advice from the authorities and are now awaiting a response from the Premier League.

A Liverpool spokesman said: "We will make an announcement as soon as the Premier League come back to us."

Fulham's contest against Portsmouth and Burnley's clash with Stoke became the first Premier League contest to fall victim to the freezing conditions.

The games at Arsenal, Birmingham and Hull are all set to go ahead provided the safety of spectators attending the fixtures can be guaranteed.

The Championship fixtures at Preston, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Watford were called off yesterday, but Cardiff are confident their game against Blackpool will go ahead after the first team squad trained at Cardiff City Stadium yesterday.

League One and League Two have been decimated by the conditions with only the games at Leeds and Norwich set to go ahead in League One, while Northampton have asked fans to help clear the pitch at Sixfields so their League Two game with Chesterfield can go ahead.

TBF, both Clubs have no say whatsoever in decisions made in these circumstances. The police/Civil Protection Authorities decide on Health/Safety issues and the FA/Referee decide if the playing conditions of the pitch itself are safe and up to the requirements of the 'Laws of the game'

So, this is not a matter of L'pool are 'Scared Shit' of facing us, as some on here are suggesting !

Let us show some dignity and call the facts correctly

I for one am disappointed that this game looks like being called off. Of course we would have missed Lennon but I feel that they would have missed Mascherano and Johnson a lot more therefore giving us a good opportunity of taking 3 points.

That's right Kev......We had a pretty bad winter in 84/85. In fact we only played 4 league matches in the whole of January and February.

We ended up playing our last 11 league games in something like 34 days Eek

Like Rafa saying he wants the game postponed, and that Liverpool have requested it being postponed?

I'd much rather we played also but a fit Lennon makes a huge difference to us

What a joke if it is called off. Other countries have to cope with far more snow the this and they dont cancel everything because of safety precautions. If they cant get the pitch ready then fair enough but if it is because of the snow and ice outside the ground then it just shows that we are an over obsessed and pedantic nation. Ive been to football matches in Germany when there has been over a foot of snow. They clear any outdoor stairways of any snow and ice and the travelling fans know not to run around and skid on the ice because they have common sense; hence no problems. The only message Liverpool FC should be sending out is to warn fans to arrive at the stadium earlier so there is more time to get people into the ground.

As a comparison I have no doubt that all the shopping centres in Liverpool will be open on Sunday. The staff and customers will get there one way or another so why can't a football match take place if the pitch is playable?

Like Rafa saying he wants the game postponed, and that Liverpool have requested it being postponed?

It's one thing 'requesting' and it's another 'deciding!'

I repeat and say that ''Clubs have no say whatsoever in such decisions.'' It is only up to the Police/Civil Protection and the FA/ Match Referee to decide whether a scheduled match goes ahead or be postponed in any given unusual and adverse situation. This is irrispective of the opinion and request of one or both Clubs involved in that match.

By this, I am not saying that the involved Clubs cannot express and put forward their wish. What I'm saying is that they have NO SAY ! Rafa or no Rafa!

They do have no final say, but the request means that they want it called off for one reason or another.

Why the fuck would Rafa want to call it off? especially when they have Uefa cup games, an FA cup replay and the business end of the season to contend with?

Because he's papping him sen.
