This is all the Media and certain French ex-players who cannot "fathom" how their national treasure is not the star of little old Tottenham.

The fact that we are for once doing the right thing by letting Lloris settle, not rushing him in in a blind panic when the team is already unstable is being ignored by the papers to sell papers, because it's essentially a non-fecking-story otherwise.

If this was Chelsea or Man Utd or maybe even Arsenal, it would be a non story, it would only be about top manager is sensible taking a steady approach to let keeper settle... cue nods of approval all round.

No, it's AVB, the disaster of Chelsea, who pillaged and murdered the soul of a beloved English Giant and stabbed HR in the back in a Game of Thrones-esque power shift, now plotting the demise of all and sundry.

YAWN FECKING YAWN.

Lloris will be Spurs number 1. End of, does it really matter if it's next game or in 5 games or in 10? He will.

Lloris is one of the best 5 keepers in the world. I watch a lot of French football and quite simply the guy is class. I have a lot of time for Friedel but we can't just keep him in the team on sentiment, waiting for him to have a shocker, the guy won't make many howlers but at the same time that's because he takes no risks, preferring to stay rooted to his line. It's harsh on Brad who's done a great job but Lloris is the better keeper and could be here for the next 10 years. Play him, it's pretty simple.

Relax people. He'll start soon enough. Besides, the keeper hasn't been our issue thus far. It's been scoring and scrambling defense at the end. It'll be sorted out as players get used to each other and the new philosophy. This year is not a CL year for us, I don't believe, but it could turn out to be even more important in the long run for the future of the club.

He could be the best keeper in history - we dont yet know how he'll stand up to the premiership.
It's played a different way over here, players foul keepers constantly, block them off at set peices and use all sorts of tactics that he's almost certainly never experiences.

So yes, I think in the current situation, where we are struggling a little and not playing the best, having a settle defence/keeper unit is ESSENTIAL. And i think changing it up could cause chaos.

We've already thrown in a new CB and had 3/4 different left backs this season compared to last.

Give it time chaps and give Brad the credit he deserves. He's kept us in games this season.

Agree, the guy is close to being world class, why give our oponents an advantage by playing a good but inferior keeper.

No matter how good Lloris is, he should not be played until he settles with his defense. Quite simply, we do not want a De Gea on our hands. Imagine if SAF had stuck with Lindegaard until De Gea had settled in, the extra few points would have resulted in a TITLE. Putting Lloris in now vs later could be the difference between a CL spot and EL.

What annoys me about this is that last season AVB tried to drop the senior players and mainstays at Chelsea and got criticised for it yet he's sticking with Brad (who's been one of our best players this season nonetheless) and is still getting criticised for it. WTF is he supposed to do?

The situation has been blown out of all proportion by the press who are trying to use it as another rope to hang AVB with, there wouldn't be a story if Redknapp was still in charge - the backlash has been ridiculous and lots of stupid people are lapping it up

I wrote this in another thread, but other than Brad still doing a job, it can be the ONLY explanation as to why Lloris hasn't been picked as no 1 yet.

All 4 keepers in a room with AVB and Tony Parkes...AVB asks 'who wants to go in goal on saturday?' A lengthy silence then takes place. After 5 mins of nobody saying a word Brad Friedel asks 'Hugo?'. Lloris replies 'Non, non. You have been a great keeper. It should be you.' Brad, not convinced asks Gomes 'Hey Octopus, do you want to play in goal?', Gomes replies 'no, not me, Hugo'. Brad then turns to Cuducini 'Carlo? what about you?' Cuducini says 'Naaah, Hugo'. Brad turns to Parkes and AVB 'It looks like its unanimous, they all want me to go in goal'.

I have a sneaky feeling he may play against Utd
Or, does anyone get the feeling that AVB figures Spurs will get hit hard at old trafford? So he'll have an easy move to bring Lloris in after that?.... just a passing thought

Saying on the BBC that he's pissed off because Brad started on Wednesday v Carlisle. A game Carlo played for the full 90. The press are caught red handed just making shit up now.

Lloris will play when Villas Boas decides he should. That's it. There's no point in Villas Boas pissing off our perfectly fine and in form goalie just to get Lloris in the team. If he did that and Lloris ends up being another Gomes who can't adapt to the Premier League then going back to Brad will be difficult.

He's 25, he's got a lot of years ahead of him. Easing him in is vital to his long term future in the league. Interesting how the press don't seen at all concerned with Hughes benching his new signing goalie after 2 game sand buying a new one. Or Fergie dropping his 20million pound goalie whenever they play a team that crosses the ball.

It's a non-story. Probably Lloris is annoyed, just as any professional should be when not playing. It's nothing worth worrying about and definitely nothing with contributing to. The media have an agenda. If he had just played Lloris from the start you can be certain that every story would be about how a "source" has informed them that Friedel has DEMANDED SHOWDOWN TALKS with Villas Boas and the usual drivel. Trust the manager, back the team.

I agree totally with this. It doesn't seem like Lloris is throwing his toys out the pram so it's fair enough to give him some time to watch the Prem games from the bench for a little while.

Personally I would like to see him play, but more than that I would like to see that the players respect the decisions AVB is making, and they all realise that the club comes before the player.

Within a month this will be the case but right now letting Lloris settle until the pressure is off is a good idea.
