I personally think they were both a bit half hearted as neiter wanted to get injured. Worried me a little bit but I'm not jumping to any conclusions. All I will say is having seen that I was surprised to come on here and see 2 threads full of people purring over him.
I'll wait till he's put a run of games together and hasnt done things that had me with my heard in my mouth.

What surprises me is someone coming on here making a comment about a situation they watched on fast forward on a television

As has been pointed out had Lloris not rushed out Klose would definitely have been in on goal and I believe quite possibly might/should have scored

Lloris did brilliantly getting as far out as he did, closing down both the striker and the ball. From his starting position and the way the move built he was 40/60 at the very best to get there but made the decision that he had to

Great keeping imo

Just to clarify - I stopped the fastforward and watched it over. I dont know if we're talking about the same bit here, he certainly didnt "rush" out, he sort of fell to the ground as if to smother the ball but pulled out?

The way the cameras showed the move you probably only saw where Lloris was when the ball had just about reached Klose but believe me the ground he made to get ther split seconds before was impressive and showed great speed, bravery and a great reading of the danger. Klose may well have bottled it, Hugo certainly didn't

I haven't seen any replays but I would imagine Klose was about 8 yards out!!??

Seemed very calm and assured and his distribution was good. Hasn't good a booming kick like Robbo etc but that is certainly not the end of the world although I can't see him scoring!!

I imagine AVB wants to build from the back so the Robbo style big booming kick wouldn't be used that often anyway. Besides he can kick it further and more accurately then Friedal from what I saw. Didn't seem to panic when getting a back pass under some pressure and booting the ball into row z like I've seen Friedal do.

Funnily enough, Robbo was exactly who he reminded me of kicking-wise. Maybe not the power and distance, but the accuracy of distribution is easily the best I've seen since England's number 1.

Lloris looked good but also a bit nervous which is understandable given the pre-match hype. Unquestionably Lloris is the way forward. If the transfer had been completed before the start of the season he'd have started and be solid #1 by now.

For God sake Lloris put Klose off, very fast out and his presence definitely rushed Klose...had Brad been in goal he would of picked his spot.

That situation was not Lloris's fault, he did well there actually.

^THIS and an incident in the second half when he tried to shepherd the ball out for GK and the attacker hooked it back over his head. Its incredible the adulation he's getting after last night. He certainly looked good on the one or two crosses that came in and seems to have very good ball skills but come on, lets keep our willies in our pants for a little longer shall we??!

If Lloris had not rush out towards Klose and put pressure on him, Klose would have ample time to pick up a team mate or put in a dangerous ball. What Lloris did was good goalkeeping not a mistake.

From what I've seen of Lloris against Lazio and playing for France I can confidently say he is a better alround goalkeeper the Brad Friedel. The issue is how to impelement the transition of the goal keeper with dignity and class at the moment Friedel is No.1

I don't think it is so much about dignity and class, i think it is more about making sure we don't throw Lloris in at the deep end too quickly. With his style of keeping there will inevitably be moments in his PL career where he will come for a ball, be ever so slightly slower than the attacker and look like a tit when the attacker puts it in the back of the net - even though if he had stayed put it would still have been a goal - it's the curse of the goal keeper - you're really better off sticking to your line if you want to avoid criticism.

So i just think we need to make sure that Lloris is eased in in such a way that he's not under pressure from the usual media toss pots if and when he makes a mistake.

After watching his calm "using the entire box" performance against Lazio, I can see why Barthez said what he said.

No way. You come out and cut the angles, and make sure it's not to far out as to create an opportunity for a chip. You stay on the line only for penalties.

One thing is for sure, our lads need to start passing to his left foot, nearly got closed down a couple of times trying to readjust. We had that trouble with Cerny iirc.

I agree that's what you should do, but my point was that in order to avoid criticism as a keeper you're better off not coming out for things rather than coming and risking not getting to them.

He looks like a very good goalkeeper to me. Sometimes its the games where you don't have that much to do that shows what a top keeper you really are

Very commanding in coming for a couple of crosses second half which relieved any pressure on our defence to clear the ball

His most impressive piece of keeping was when he raced off his line to close down Klose who was completely unmarked 8 yards out when the ball was squared across to him. Brilliant goalkeeping that put the centre forward off

Seemed very calm and assured and his distribution was good. Hasn't good a booming kick like Robbo etc but that is certainly not the end of the world although I can't see him scoring!!

The sooner he becomes our No1 the better for Tottenham

I predict great things

Loan him out to Torquay.

I'm with you. Brad gets critisized what ever he does, loads of people say he should come off hIs line more then in the first game of the season he comes off his line to close down Ba and gets ripped a new one by some fans saying he should have stayed put.
