why would Ramos want Bentley as has been suggested here? He was the least favoured of the summer signings and his attitude stunk when Ramos was here. I think they wouldn't get on at all.

Please take David Bentley Mr Ramos, not worth £16 million, the money should've been spent on a defensive midfielder or a striker and not on another average player we don't/didn't need.

Bentley has not been shite - he hasnt been as good as what he showed for blackburn yet but i think he will come good. even playing baldy his crossing has been 20 times better than lennons!

can we not clone them into one. with lennons pace and skill combined with bentleys crossing ability.

Plus, the goal agaisnt the scum was worth half the transfer fee alone!

I disagree. okay, Lennon's crosses aren't David Beckham-esque, but they are seriously improving and we are scoring from Lennon crosses..

Lennon is developing well, and if you look at our stats of goals scored from crosses I reckon more would be from Lennon than Bentley...

May seem surprising, but true!

Poor statement, Lennon set up 2 chances against west ham with excellent crosses whereas Bentley wasted so many considering he is meant to be an expert at this area, it's quite simply not good enough.

Lennon has been one of our most consistent players this season, he deserves a lot more respect than that.

Really? Is that what you think? Really? Utter shite? Really? All Season? Really? Are you sure?
Quite actually

He has had his moments....but very few and very far apart.

....and what we all know but no one has the balls to say......if he wouldn't have been english.....he'd be totally slaughtered in media and different forums. £17m for that.....etc.

Please don't say it isn't true.

Sell Zokora, buy Veloso

I like Didier but I'd prefer a DM who can play / pass.

Why we're at it why don't we sell Bent and get Ibrahimovic and get rid of Lennon and get Messi. Because they're all likely to wanna come to spurs:roll:

The rumours come from the usual papers and a sports radio programme called 'The larguero'. The zokora quote from an interview Ramos gave on TV from one of the sports channels in Spain.

He was not excellent.

In your opinion maybe, although you have neglected to state why you thought he wasn't excellent given that you made your point as a matter of fact.

I thought he was excellent because he broke up their attacking play, passed well when he had the ball, always made himself available to receive the ball, broke forward well when the opportunity presented itself, covered our centre backs when they went forward for set pieces and he even had a shot on target.

He has been much improved in recent weeks so credit where it is due.

Blanket ignorance of a parrot variety does not make a decent argument from anyone.

I know the thread is about Zokora, but with the mention of Bentley I'd be more worried about a bid from Hughes what with all the cash he'll soon be getting, after all Bentley was a bit of a star for him at Blackburn. In which case the bid would have to be more £117 million that a measly £17m!

Anyone who thought Zokora didn't have an excellent game on Monday obviously didn't watch it. He would probably do very well at Real too, much more time on the ball, and all he would have to is win it and give the ball to Guti, Van Der Vaart and Schneider etc.

Anyone who thinks Ramos will go in for Bentley truly is loco. He is struggling to adapt with the step up from Blackburn to us, imagine how he would fare at the pressure cooker that is Real? Also, wasn't his breaking ranks to the media one the main reasons that Ramos got sacked? Surely no manager would go back for a player who broke his trust? Finally, Bentley's reputation is not big enough to placate the Real fans, the board want signings to calm them, especially after the tonking they are going to get from Barca this weekend

Bentley shouldn't be going anywhere. Who will play on the wings if Lennon is injured?

As for Zoko, they can have him for £10m + Gago

Valencia need to raise cash, 50m has been touted. They have some wonderful players, young and old - Villa, Silva, Albelda, Albiol, Joaquin, Zigic, Rodriguez, or how about that Mata kid...

Sell expensive English and throw the cash at the teams who massively need it and we'll leap in squad quality imo.

http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2008/12/10/Prem-Ramos-on-Zokora/gnid-30940/

Juande Ramos has barely had time to warm his seat at Real Madrid, but he is already being linked with January transfer targets and reports in Spain are crediting him with an interest in Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora.

English press reports suggest Ramos will make a raid on his former club in January, with wingers David Bentley and Aaron Lennon said to be his preferred options.

The Spanish media take a different tack as they feel Ramos will look to bring in a midfield enforcer to offset the loss of Mahamadou Diarra.

Real are remaining tight lipped on potential targets and money could well be tight following the deal to bring in Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax, but Ramos has expressed his admiration for Zokora.

”The player that impressed me most was Zokora,” Ramos told Marca when questioned on his favourite player at Spurs.

Zokora has proved to be a versatile figure for Harry Redknapp and there is no indication they want to sell, but with the Spurs chief admitting he may need to sell before buying, there could be room for manoeuvre for Real.

If they offered good cash I'd take it but only if we already have somebody else lined up.

Defensive midfield is somewhere we really need to improve, get someone who is able to provide a dominance in the centre and a bit better level of passing.

I'd be gutted if Ramos prized Lennon away as he's really starting to look good, I'm not so worried about Bentley at the mo although would probably prefer to keep him (I'm so fickle as I really wanted him to sign in the summer, but that was during the period that Lennon was playing quite poorly).

I'd be very surprised if Hughes was interested though, as he purchased Wright-Phillips in the summer who is their first choice right winger (and rightly so).

They also have Stephen Ireland who can do a pretty good job their too as shown last season.

Plus Elano.

I'd suspect Hughes will be looking at more left-wing options and defensive midfielders us like we should be.

if the romours about Velosu/us was wrong in last summer, then Zokora is possible one for Ramos for Real Madrid. AND If Ramos would like Zokora, it's Levy game !! for someone who couldn't get a buyer for £5-6m due to his failure to impress in EPL, I think it is our chance now to get £10m from Madrid now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm one who like Zokora, he did impress me in sometimes but he is very weak link in 4-4-2 with Huddlestone or even Jenas. This is not his problem but we are a club who is still rebuilding and some of other players aren't finished article, so we need someone behind Huddlestone, JJ & even Modric who can 'complete' them.

We have very short squad, & most of our Middle players are CM more than DM including Zokora & Huddlestone. Zokora can take loose balls easily with his good pace and energy but still doesn't fit in our style of football. so If Redknapp can find good DM, then let's sell him for good price.

Bentley ? yes isn't doing well considering what he did with Rovers, but remember when Lennon wasn't good last season. Bentley give us different option on width, someone can be dangerous with his crosses and shoots, he can kill some games even if he is poor. If our strikers took his crosses vs Hull, we could won it 5-1. so the strikers and Bentley needs to know each other more to make themselves good signings. I meant Bent, Roman and Bentley as well. He needs time.
