Don't see the fuss, players like Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard have done it for years with the England team. No idea why there is a fuss about the olympic squad considering no one from Great Britain has cared about it for 50 odd years

Gareth Bale was one of the few who did care though. He obviously saw it as a realistic chance of winning an international medal and was very public about wanting to play for the team.

The way I see it is he was injured before the squad was picked (weeks ago) and now he is bringing himself back to full fitness in friendlies with us in a warm climate. Where's the issue? It's not like the squad was picked with Bale in it and he dropped out a week ago.

I agree, it's all about the timing.

I don't watch much women's football, it's been quite good so far. Team GB scraped past NZ, USA had a great comeback against France, and Brazil have just taken the lead against Cameroon.

Women's football is brilliant at the international level. I don't actually support the USMNT as I don't have time for the xenophobes that took over Sam's Army, but I love the USWNT. They are fun and never quit. Love them. And who would you rather look at? Gareth Bale or Alex Morgan. :)

There's probably some big Scotch bloke stood around, shrugging his shoulders and saying 'look, im just saying if you stood a N Korean next to a S Korean i wouldnt be able to tell the difference, would you? Fucking hell, bring your own flag next time'.

Bloody Scotland, we gave them one job!

Reminds me of the time that the Atlanta Braves presented the Canadian flag during anthems in a WS against Toronto, upside down. Acted like it was no big deal, but them rednecks would have wanted a war, had Toronto did that with the US flag.

or when they played the Kazakhstan Nation anthem from the Borat film instead of the actual anthem at some athletics meet earlier this year.

Ah yes, but we are talking about North Korea here!!! I would imagine Kim Jong Un and his shiny new wife are readying the nukes as we speak!!!

Really wouldn't surprise me.

Personally I don't blame them for walking off. I certainly don't agree with the politics of North Korea, however it's obviously an incredibly sensitive and politically charged issue and what happened tonight is a monumental fuck up that is deeply insulting to the North Korean players involved.

Those poor North Koreans. Their first introduction to post 1950s technology and this happens.

Scotland didn't have much to do in these Olympics and yet they have caused an international incident, well done

Apart from compete... think it's fair to say a lot of our GB medal hopes come from Scottish Olympians!

This kind of incident should simply not happen at such a prestigious event. Not good enough.

Hoping the rest of the Olympics is fab though! :)
