Looks like players are complaining to the press - from the Telegraph

The title of this thread should be changed too "Another article stirring up supporters with misleading statements and no quotes to back them up - from the Telegraph"

Problem is there are still idiots who believe everything they read.

Telegraph seem to have a bit of an agenda with us at the moment. Trust me when I say that articles like this are based on an agent, in this case most likely Townsend's, trying to put feelers out for his player (or Rodriguez's on the flip side). Journos don't care if it's true per say, just that they can point to a 'solid' source if challenged. It's never their neck if someone else made it up.

Rule of thumb, if it's in the newspaper it is 90% agenda from the rag 10% accurate info from a dodgy source (which also turns out to be unreliable). Don't believe a word of it.

Which concerns me because historically the Telegraph have been one of the papers that has got a lot of stories correct. So either the paper is turning to shit (probable) or there is no smoke without fire.

They are also likely impacted by who the Telegraph have to actually assign to cover Spurs....

Jason Burt did it and was very accurate, but once AVB left he seems to have lost his main source and now seems to cover a bit of everything but United a bit more than the rest. Though he still covers us on occasion it seems to be more match reports (i think he covered the NLD for example) rather than anything of insight.

Matt Law seems to have gotten the assignment to cover us and he genuinely at times seems annoyed that he has to cover Spurs rather then have a pure glamour assignment like CFC.

His English is shit. It is so shit that I, as a non-native speaker my self, have completely stopped listening to his press appearances, simply because I can't manage to extract any sense. He has a command of English which wouldn't even get him a job in the hospitality industry in London, were virtually anyone gets a job.
It doesn't bother me, but those are the facts.

Why do you we to keep slagging off Sherwood

err...

There was ITK not long ago saying we would get leaks from players/agents not getting game time and not being happy with Poch's methods

I re-watched the Sherwood interview after the Chelsea game just last week. I actually thought it was good. He was saying what we were all saying and genuinely seemed to care about Spurs, which I don't think anyone on here ever wanted to give him credit for. He was sticking up for the club against players who gave up in our shirt.

Tim Sherwood

Rating his squad:

‘I couldn’t tell you my best team, and I don’t know whether that’s good or bad. I have assessed the players more than anyone and I could not tell you the best 11 at Tottenham. They are all so similar; much of a muchness regarding quality.’

How right was he.

Treated terribly by Spurs fans.

Levy would never have given him the job full-time because he would not have taken any shit from Danny Boy and wouldn't have been fobbed off with players that he didn't want.

Telegraph has just gone behind a paywall which in my experience ushers in more sensational 'click bait' stories with intriguing headlines topping unsubstantiated articles preferred over actual journalistic integrity.

He might have been right on a few occasions, and I understood why he took this certain stance but I'm still convinced he was a charlatan, who made a rod for his own back. He gave it the big I am, when he should have knuckled down and put his money where his mouth was.

What do you mean by this? He not only mentioned the 'much of muchness' he also showed clear signs of it. How many times did we see different midfield pairings? The guy played 442 at the start then 4231 and even 433 on occasions, all in an attempt to figure out his best team.

It's not normal for coaches to slag off their players in the media. It's poor leadership and not exactly a way to boost morale.

Sir Alex was as hard as nails, but did we ever see him do anything but defend his players? He often protected players that had done stupid things in matches by saying totally outlandish things in the post match presser to draw the focus to himself instead of the player.

When it comes to the much of muchness, it's not like our players have performed to the max of their potential. Their previous performances suggest that. We may never see them at their best in our shirt, but it's strange how we seem to turn good players mediocre.

My comment was a general appraisal of his time, not just on the subject of his best XI.

...if we win again it will be rosy...ups and downs innit. I am confident it will come good but it is going to take time. But these players have to get mentally tougher.

Sherwood called it out and Poch is finding out the same thing thehard way. We are a bit marshmallow. I think youth has a bit to do with it too. This is ayoung side still finding its way. HR always said there were not enough leaders in our club. I guess this has not changed. Maybe Poch should be targeting a Terry or Keane type of player in Jan?
