I don't care if they rejected our first offer, because, as others have stated, that's just normal. I'm pretty sure that when it's off, we'll hear about it from every journo.
This. If these tier 1 journos said they've rejected it and say he's not for sale or they've rejected it and spurs have moved on then fair enough.

This is the most interesting part of all of this imo. Why would we have we attached a 48 hour deadline in the final week of the transfer window.

The deadline is very very good news if it's true.
I remember someone from the ITK crew mentioning that Paratici usually gives people a deadline when doing deals, so seems in character, no?

Im even more interested on the phrasing from the tweet that broke the news saying it was a "official bid". As far as I'm aware, FP only submits an "official" bid when he thinks a deal is close to an agreement. Before that, its only negotiations like the case with Traoré

Levy to spend 55 million whilst trying to offload his two other most expensive signings at lower fees because they didn’t work. Sure.

In fairness we are never getting the guy but it's always good fun on here when links appear to a big name player like that ?

I’m going to for once truly believe we will actually sign this guy.

Who wants to join me? He is coming to Spurs. Let’s rejoice.
I won’t believe it till someone photoshops his head on Dier’s Tottenham kit adorning body as part of a ‘Welcome to Spurs’ type video.

At what point do Levy and co realise this lowballing strategy just doesn't work. All it does is pisses teams off and makes us look like mugs. I'm not saying you don't try and negotiate, but If you're serious, pay up. It's what elite clubs do I'm afraid. If we just don't have the money, then we just have to look at cheaper buys.

Maybe my memory is short, but in recent times, what bargains have we pulled out the bag? And by bargain I mean an established player at a good price - not an Alli type signing.

Despite Levy's rep as a tough negotiator we still seem to pay over the odds for bang average players anyway lol

Yes of course, but you only give a deadline like this if you are planning on moving on to another target. With days left that makes sense no?

The reporter who broke it said 45m with 10m add ons and Porto want 55m. That's not low balling. It's not like we've offered half. (If any of this is true)

He can't win. If someone doesn't work out, he's payed over the odds. If we fail, he's just not willing to do the deal.

55million is a lot for a guy who is in the Portuguese league

Can we just dispel this nonsense about us making 'PR bids' for players?

We talk to loads of players all the time, some of it is leaked by agents/other clubs, but it is laughable to say we just pull these types of stunts to appease the fanbase. If anything, it is counterproductive and makes the club look like it can't get deals done.

Dybala - the deal was in place, Poch said no.
Lautaro - CFC scuppered our chances via Lukaku.

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Levy has a lot to answer for but this narrative is tedious.

The original journo who reported this has just spoke on Fabrizio Romano's stream and said we have made an official bid of €45mil with €10mil add-ons. Only club so far to actually make a bid for him and the deadline is confirmed for 48 hours.

Shame they had to leak it to try and get others involved.

Sorry but where have people got the idea this guy is reliable from? Just googling his name is story after story that hasn't come true. Am I missing something?
I don't know. He didn't even write that article and all the article says is that 45mils isn't enough but doesn't mention add-ons.

This calibre of signing is what we need, though I fear his best position is exactly Sons best position and one of them would need to be stuck in somewhere else.

My guess is anyway that this will never happen so whatever.

Edit: alright, lets go back to the amrabat thread.

Pfft… this hasn’t even warmed up yet. Still a while to go before we hear the word “difficult”.
