Last night it was exactly that with Lass Diarra, I imagine he'll take that spot. A lot of competition for that spot though, that's pressure from the off.

He's better than Diarra, Alonso and Ozil, so I'd be worried if I were one of those three.

Bye Bye Luka...pity you had to behave in such a way that you are leaving as a great player who played for Spurs and not as a great Spurs player - all you had to do was get your head down and do what you were paid for while the adults negotiated. Could have been leaving us with a farewell gift of a couple of wins to start our season, as we surely needed you. For that reason I don't particularly wish you well, unless it is to our benefit financially that you succeed (y)

Very interested in this latest club partnership, which Daniel must have pushed for as part fo the deal. I know his way fo doing business grates but he really knows how to use these type of things to imrpove the club IMVHO.

p.s. Bobbins, we will be fine. We will fine some good players to take up the slack. I can live without us finishing top 4 this season, but think we will. Think the Goons are going to struggle for goals and both they and Chelsea still look fragile in defence. So, kinda expecting top 4 without demanding it.
He was never going to play and risk an injury that could compromise his move to Madrid

Yeah, Khedira and Granero in there too, who I'd say he's much better than as well, but they are not at all short on very good quality options should Luka not take to life that easily in Madrid.

I wonder what Ledely would have done has his knee injuries not limited his options and the likes of Barca or Real come calling?

Personally I think more often than not a player is only as loyal as his options.

If the big guns hadn't come in for Luka he'd be working away and we'd all be saying what a loyal hero he is, If Real had come in for Ledley in his prime and we blocked his dream move I would suggest things might have been different too

This. This all day

I am not sure what the point of this partnership deal is.

From here the deal looks like we may get some more love a la Van Der Vaart deal, so maybe some of their squad filler to plug any holes come the end of the window, and they'll get first dibs on Mr Bale next summer

So Luka has gone and we now have some sort of relationship with Real Madrid. This must be how it feels to be cuddled by your rapist.

Cracking player, one of the finest I've seen in a Spurs shirt and obviously sad that I won't see him in a Spurs shirt again.

But he's good enough for RM, I don't begrudge him going at all and hope he has success over there. Barca Vs Real is going to be even more of an orgy of midfield class now.

Luka Modric.

You were a brillient player for Tottenham in line with many great players to put on the famous shirt of THFC, it was a pleasure seeing you perform. What a big shame it ended the way it did though a point yourself and agent should reflect upon, anyway great players will come and go after you I'm personally glad we never sancationed the Chelsea move that was very insulting. Real Madrid is a massive club the Spanish league technically is strong most Spurs fan will be watching out of interest of an ex player so on a clean slate good luck and get a hair cut.

lol and true

Good luck to Modric, I'll be watching how he does in a Madrid shirt. One of the best players I've ever seen in a Spurs shirt.

Best player we've had since Gazza; a shame he had to waste his talent playing under Redknapp and that we didn't get to see more results from his magic.
I understand that he wants to move on, just wish he'd done it in a more professional way and not like he did - most of my love for the player died because of it.

WTF - I thought the informed opinion on here was that his most likely destination was Real - from about Spetember last season
I even had a convo, about March-time, with my brother who claimed he would go to United for about £23 million, and saying it would be Real and for closer to £35 m.
I don;t know what is worse, me for not backing it or the bookies for offering such massive odds on what seemed to me like a dead cert.
And I didn't even think about looking at the odds because I thought they would be ridiculously short - I repeat, WT actual F :barefoot:

Anyway, fair play - how much did you have on it?

p.s. - If you put the beton after reading one of my posts saying he would go to Real, I demand a cut

Didn't put much on - wish I had. Only a fiver. But still...free money is free money! :D I'm not going to say which or whose post inspired me to make that bet. ;)

Just read this about him on the Madrid website..

The main footballing attributes of Modric are his golden vision, his genuine goal threat and his great technical ability'
