Just my opinion after the game. Thought they had the better of it in the second half and we were holding on for the win.

We'll Agree to disagree on it but I was on edge for those final 20-30 minutes!
It was definitely nervy… but maybe I need to change my own mentality to a more winning one 😅

Think it was @Trix who said we’re looking for a fox in the box type. We get a clinical finisher who can add 8-15 goals to this group and there’s no limit. For all of Richie’s qualities you really can’t see him scoring consistently enough.
Yep, Richy and Kulu work hard and offer a lot of benefits but for sure we need 1-2 more players who can hit the back of the net more regularly. Johnson when fit should be one.

Not so sure, people still moaned under Poch. The better we get the higher the expectations and the more entitled people will get.
‘People’ will always moan. ALWAYS.

Ignore it and enjoy it.

Heck City’s fans boo’d them off at home at half time last season during one match where they were losing and weren’t playing great, absolutely embarrassing but it’s just life and football and people, people love to moan and be negative more than positive, it is what it is.

Yea agree, that last 20-30 was scary viewing, they had a few close chances for sure, incredible effort from the lads to get over the line.

Of course they had the better of it in the second half, they were playing against ten men.

But over the whole 90 minutes, we were the better side, creating more high end chances than them.

It shouldn't have to be said.

But you summed it up perfectly.

I don't care if we are contractually obligated to wear it in so many matches - break the contract, and lose that shirt.
Any kit that would like X-A-U-X-E in Wordle should be automatically banned. that would exclude Mauve

I can't see why there was any nervousness, I really wasn't nervous at all. They had some success out wide getting some crosses in the second half but after we brought on our subs and seemed to go five at the back when necessary they quickly dried up and we got the ball, passed it and gradually regained control of ourselves and the game. I was well relaxed by 80 minutes.

Still slightly surreal to see us go a man down and then win a game of football, and not feel all that surprised about it.

For the last few years the other team going down a man, never mind us, only meant that our job of defending deep in our own half was made a little easier.

God almighty, never f'ing again with "pragmatic" coaches. NEVER.

The same feeling I had under Poch in earlier seasons.

Was thinking today someone like Conte who was supposed to be a winner just kept constantly playing the same system and players, even when it clearly wasn’t working.

DWWWWDWW - can't ask for much more than that and it's an unexpected and fantastic start to Ange's reign. We haven't had runs of results like this since Poch and it's great to see it happening again. We haven't hit 5 wins in a row yet, but hopefully it's coming. And it's a key indicator that the manager is instilling great habits and strong attitudes.

There's plenty to do in terms of clinical finishing. Kane's ruthlessness is missed and Richy is unlikely to ever acquire enough of it. I'm not sure how to get the best out of him. He could've had two in this one and we'd be feeling fairly secure that left attacker is a good spot for him. But if he doesn't finish gilt-edged chances, he's not really offering enough. I think Johnson takes his spot when he's up and running, but not because he's decisively more clinical with finishing. But he'll offer more in build up and with his pace.

Good time for a break. We've gone through this little run of games between international breaks with late and plucky results. The next four before the Nov break include 3 London derbies and Wolves away. No reason we can't still be unbeaten then either.

Getting this feeling some have completely forgotten the quality of chances we created first half in their analysis and solely focusing on Luton's bad misses second half against ten.

Best start to a season since 1960... incidentally when we last won the league 👍

Nooo. No, no, no, don't start doing that to yourself, dude :D

I always expect us to win the league anyway, it's my default expectation until we mathematically can't, but don't start doing that haha!

It’s the only way he knows.

Conte & Jose are dinosaurs 🦖 who need big chequebooks and tons of expensive experienced older senior pro’s basically the complete opposite of Levy’s vision and of what our fans want.

Luckily with Ange we now have a young fresh hungry motivated high energy technically proficient creative attacking squad and a manager who plays to dominate games WITH the ball and who tired to win games by doing goals and creating chances.

Remember last season when we were going out of the Champions League and Conte brought on a defender 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that summed it all up and how wrong it was.

Thankfully right now it’s ‘Happy Days’

Good win.

Luton are gonna get an absolute hammering from a team with their shooting boots on.
Only thing I'm annoyed about here. Should have been us today. That opening 20-25 minutes should have seen the lads 2 or 3-0 up. Richarlison and Porro especially, missing three absolutely golden chances between them, and then Son and Madders also putting balls over the bar or straight at the keeper from close range is just frustrating to say the least. Have to be more clinical than that, and it's something that we haven't yet demonstrated this season aside from maybe the Burnley and Arsenal games. In most of the other games we've had a heap of straightforward opportunities and just wasted them. It's where the loss of Kane hurts us. Son being the only properly clinical finisher is not reliable across a season, especially if he has an off-day like he did today.

Totally agree with all this.

We’ve ridden our luck a bit, and if I was Ange I would want to be keeping their feet on the ground. We’re also now facing the prospect of playing without Bissouma, which isn’t too pretty, but it is what it is.

And while it’s always worth being constructively critical when assessing the side, you can’t take away from only dropping 4 points over 8 games. That’s unbelievable form.

The defence has really made strides
The midfield looks immeasurably better, and still has Bentancur to come back
The attack is doing fine, albeit definitely with room for improvement

I think the fight for the top 8 places will be horrific this year:
City are obviously done
Liverpool and Arsenal will be there
And you look at sides like Newcastle, Brighton, Villa, West Ham and now even Chelsea (who annoyingly are getting their act together) and Utd…

and you realise that it’ll be a hell of a fight, where dropping points can be very costly.

Unbelievable start though. Keep it coming.

If we marginally improve our attacking output I think we’ll be a very serious team

One thing did surprise me was that their striker Morrison?
Was allowed on the pitch whilst his nose was still leaking blood

I thought that’s a big no due to
Others potentially getting it on them

Refereeing consistency in this game wasn’t great. I am in no way supporting the dive of Bissouma but having watched the match again, Makamba held back Maddison in the first half and then made a bad tackle on Porro in the second half and didn’t get booked.
Its just annoying.

I definitely thought the challenge on Porro deserved a yellow.
