Why? It was VDV who didn't track Anderson. I really wonder what people are watching....

VDV was closest to the ball when it was played to Wellbeck. He had two players to worry about... Hudd hadn't even got back into our own half when Anderson was played in. Anderson would have been Hudds man if he was actually in his position. He left VDV exposed.

I'd love to know the stats on how much Krancjar actually ran tonight.

I don't blame him as he isn't the most mobile and is playing out of position, but it wouldn't surprise me if Friedel did more running than him. Livermore was fucked purely because he was running for two.

Good point about Livermore, i did see him screaming at Krancjar to get in position in the midfield.

they were good in the first half but we need some to force the midfield and a playmaker. M was missed sadly.

Makeshift midfield was just eventually overrun, Livermore was out of his depth when they got into their stride and Kranjcar isn't the CM you need to support him in that situation.
Your wide men can't win a game for you without a competing central midfield and you can't bypass central midfield if you don't have a striker that can lead the line hold the ball up and bring in his supporting players.
In the end the team we had to put out wasn't as good as their team.

I'm actually not that upset, mostly because I knew it would happen.

Like I said before, we were playing our 7th and 8th choice centre mids along with our 3rd and 4th choice cbs as well as our useless striker. They call it the spine for a reason, and we never had one!

Have only read a page or two. Can't believe criticism on here, with no available fit holding midfield we were gonna get done! Good performance first 55 then man yoo showed their quality by going for the throat. Would criticise Redknapp
More for putting Kranjcar and Livermore in, unless Jenas and Hudd were fitness worries. We were bereft of any effective central midfield cover, what do you expect from that! Jenas and Hudd are Marmite I know, but a better option away to the mancs than the marshmallow we started with tonight. We did well though, kept the
competed until they scored and then maybe fitness issues told. Oh, and Man Yoo will win the Prem this year, no problem.

They were playing Anderson and Cleverly. Hardly Lennon and Mcartney are they?

If it was a problem, play narrower, instead of the normal "You two hug the touchline" tactic.

spot on. and hey it's not like we were expecting to win - 3 wins against that lot in 20 premierleague seasons says it all! pathetic record for any league.

We didn't match or better them really in the first half.. they let us knock it about a bit because we were ineffectual in the final third and they knew we would be. We didn't have any really good chances. Most of our efforts from range were going to trouble this kid. Young probably should have put them in front. I think the term "crumbs of comfort" springs to mind.... and we have our noses down behind the cushions of the sofa, rooting amongst the smell two pence coins looking for those crumbs like they were the finest truffles.

Lennon was poor tonight, decision makig at vital points was, well lets not mince words, utterly useless. No wonder VDV pulledhis shirt over his head! I was surprised that we didn't take him off and play Krancjer out wide, I can only think that Harry was hoping that Huddlestones passing would release Lennon down the wing to use the one gun in his arsenal his pace. Alas it never happened!

We had 16 shots, but 14 of them musta been from about 30 yards out! Pointless tactic, woulda worked at the beginning but once De Gea settled it was never gonna happen, it was like shooting practice for him!

I think tonight shows we need a QUALITY striker.

That second half is typical Redknapp where we continue to be so fucking awful off the ball in terms of trying to retrieve possession and in general shape.

No mental fortitude in this lot to even try to grind out a result and in the end it turned into a bunch of individuals perfectly personified by VdV and his stupid constant low range shots at goal.

We shouldn't forget our decent first half performance, especially with a makeshift central midfield but once Harry made the tactical brainfart of taking off both Livermore and Kranjcar and putting on just Huddlestone and keeping Defoe on the pitch we shot ourselves in the foot and created even more space for United to operate in.

Dawson was completely inept at marking adequately and closely followed by Corluka who was turned inside out by Young and looked as clumsy as ever, especially with his throws.

Friedel actually was one of the few players who came away with any credit and call me biased but Kaboul was by far the best defender out there and at least tried to be intelligent with possession and defended resolutely.

A big 9 days coming up for the club and I hope we come out of it with a feeling that we've moved forward as a club and not left with a lingering hangover like we had with the Berbatov situation.

At the ned of the day when you looked at the fixture list before teh season started did any of us have us getting anything from away to Man Utd?

Well, yeah, but I really was expecting Modric to play, and Adebayor, Diarra or both would have made a big difference. But, none of that happened.
So, for the first time this window, I am going to say that if things had been handled better, we would have had more of a chance. And when I looked at the fixture list at the start of the season I didn't know any of the above.

Ah, so thats why he gave up and stopped.....

I will have a look at it again, I didn't realise he had just stopped. I just remember him trying to cover two players as it was played into Wellbeck. I started shouting at Hudd as he was still in the center circle and next thing I knew the ball was in the net.

But they had the movement of Rooney, Young, Wellbeck and Nani to help them! Michael Brown and Toda would look half decent in that team.

Loo, we all know that we have problems, but they are not major ones, other than Redknapp! I would happily sack him today, yesterday in fact!

A lot of the accusations ..my opinion:

Dawson at fault for the headers, bad positioning but you can also say good crosses, still someone as good in the air as Dawson should be doing better at least putting the striker under pressure.

Kaboul played really really well, as did Friedel who was really unfortunate no chance on all 3. Definately looks so much more confident than Gomes and good command of the defence.

Lennon is a good player but his lack of football intelligence is shocking. He know one run - outside the fullback, uses the same tricks and his crossing is really not good enough. At his age and the time he has been playing at the top level he should be better.

Harry should have brought Pav on around 60m, might have been just before the goal even, or even just after. Instead him and Hudd came on 14m after the goal...heads had dropped we needed quicker subs.

Livermore did well, swapping Kranjcar and Livermore for Huddlestone and VDV in the cm cost us the next 2 goals. Even in that system it was like a 4-2-4, where you would really want to play a diamond? But hudd pushed up really far...suicide really.

Defoe didn't do too much wrong tbh, got fed scraps really, he is not in the class of forward to lead the line though. Closing down was bit lazy...

Dunno, really angry/gutted, not sure why because these games follow THE SAME SCRIPT every year!

45-60m are quite tight with us looking v v good holding our own and maybe even a tad better. Then completely blown away for the last 30m. There is always a mistake in there by one of our player or the ref (today benoit gave the ball away and didnt close down the cross)

Really frustrating but maybe we can put it right on sunday. Me thinks Adebayour will drag out till after that game..
