So we are now entering the run of games that will very likely define our season, and I was wondering how confident people are following our form since the New Year.

Before the month is out we have:

Chelsea (a)
Benfica (h)
Arsenal (h)
Benfica (a)
Southampton (h)
Liverpool (a)

To me that looks fookin terrifying and I can't see us getting many points/wins other than maybe against Southampton, although even we'll be coming off a knackering run of games so I wouldn't be 100% confident.

I can't see us getting anything from the Chelsea or Liverpool away games the way both those teams are playing, and I'm concerned that we'll put out a weakened side against Benfica ahead of the Arsenal game.

Maybe Arsenal will continue their slide which makes that game a lot more winnable than it looked a few weeks ago, but they did completely take us apart earlier this year in the FA Cup.

So is anyone feeling a bit more optimistic? I'm looking for positives, and there are a few. Southampton appear to be pish at the moment, and Arsenal are hopefully hitting that stage in the season when it all falls apart for them.

But I need more than that SCers...so is anyone feeling positive about March?

I keep thinking we're going to get tonked every week with the way we're playing and most weeks I'm pleasantly surprised by the result and unfortunately not surprised by the performance.

With that in mind I think we'll actually get some decent results out of that list. I think we'll beat Arsenal, at least draw with Liverpool and I think the Benfica tie will be a tight affair that could go either way.

I think Chelsea is the toughest game of the lot.

Despite the optimism about the results I sincerely doubt there will be much in the way of good performances. Same as the rest of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur. Winning Ugly.

Think it will go a little something like this!
Chelsea (a) 1-1
Benfica (h) 3-1
Arsenal (h) 2-1
Benfica (a) 0-1
Southampton (h) 3-1
Liverpool (a) 1-1

Easy!

I honestly think we will beat one of Arsenal and Liverpool, and get 7-9 points over March which will put us in a great position to finish top 4, with our 'easy' run in after that.

*we will then probably loose 3 of the last 6 and finish 6th!

Yes I keep trying to remain positive about the results, but the thing that worries me is that under Sherwood (and indeed under AVB before him this season) we've been pretty repeatedly tonked by the good teams, and I haven't seen much to suggest we can turn that around.

We keep picking up results against the not very good teams, but even in those wins we've often looked so open that I worry about what will happen if we give a decent team that space.

I can only hope that we're going to close the team up a bit and actually try and pick a team that suits the opposition. But we will have to see on that.

you really think we will beat the Goons?
I would like to think so but simply cant see it given the way we are defending against a lot poorer teams.
We may beat Southampton and squeak a result in one leg, although cant see an aggregate win, against Benfica.
but thats about it .....

I think our best chance of getting a result at Chelsea is parking the bus, they don't have a good striker, we should be able to keep the rest of them at bay. Liverpool we will have to turn into a shoot-out, we have no real option as their strike force will definitely score. Mos def.

We'll beat Arsenal at home though, they are gash at the moment. Southampton played alright against Liverpool, had more of the game but got done by 3 soft goals. I don't see us getting much change out of Benfica.

Who knows.

Who cares.

Season's over.

Are you being honest?

I am so disappointed with how this season has turned out and especially with the standard of some of our play. I was gutted AVB failed and I am struggling to have any confidence in Tim Sherwood.

BUT

We do have a very very good squad imo and the hope still remains although little optimism.

And I certainly care as much as I have done since 1970.

Very interesting and has everything to be a complete frustrating march, ending in 7th place.

But for sure hope for the best and will fly to the Chelsea away game, so thrilled to be there.

If we can't get a real run in the league maybe we should focus on the Europa League.

Yesterday was almost funny it was that bad, the crowd around where I sit were in a better mood than they had been for almost the entire season, but you sort of had to be just to get through it.

If I'm honest I would just like to fast forward to next season.

Can't wait for March. Honestly this is the month that is going to determine the shape of our club. Sherwood knows that he has to make a huge impression if he has any hope at all to be in charge next year and the same goes for quite a few of our players.

I think everyone has Chelsea and Liverpool away down as losses but you never know, the games still have to be played and won by them and the results aren't a foregone conclusion. Suddenly a game becomes much more winnable if an opposition player gets sent off early or there is a dodgy refereeing decision in our favour for example.

Chelsea away (loss)
Benfica home (win)
Arsenal home (draw)
Benfica away (loss) but we go through
Southampton home (draw)
Liverpool away (loss)

But that in part is because we expected to bully Cardiff and the fact that they played to frustrate didn't help us at all. None of the games in March are going to see us going up against a team looking to contain us and I think that'll help.

Sad truth is, everytime wehave play a top team this season we have been beatern quite easily.
Can see us getting a result against southampton, losing the rest and getting knock out against benfica.
Very negative i know but unless we start playing a lot better i think thats what will happen

Chelsea (a) 1-6
Benfica (h) 4-0
Arsenal (h) 9-1
Benfica (a) 0-20
Southampton (h) 1-0
Liverpool (a) 1-17

I think Chelsea, Liverpool and Benfica are having average runs at the moment. Don't let the form guide fool you, they may have won their last 47 games each but they haven't been playing well at all. There for the taking. Arsenal will be close but I expect a 9-1 win. Naughton OG.
