Well someone's about to lose face about Petrov. Who's it to be? Mark or Finetail. Only one way to find out...

Well cheers for the info bud. I think if we were to sign Petrov and Dyer then that would be a reasonable doubl signing, although it doesn't solve the 'who plays with JJ?' issue.

I just don't want us to be signing Dyer with some sort of cock-eyed notion that he can play on the left....because he can't.

or the right infact he once told sir bobby robson that he wouldnt play there, said he was to play centrally or not a all.

He did play on the right for them last season though didn't he?

Can't see him playing in the middle for us in the same way that Ghaly and Malbranque don't get to play there despite it being their position (or so we are lead to believe in Ghaly's case). Dyer and JJ certainly wouldn't work well together and if I had to choose between the two I'd go for JJ.

He has since said that is his biggest regret in football and would be willing to play anywhere for club or country. I agree that anyone who thinks he can play on the left is being a bit naive, but there is no doubt he is very versataille and can play on the RW, CM, ACM or RB. We shouldn't forget he went to Newcastle as a RB, won his first England call up playing RB and was heavily linked to a move to Man Utd, whilst paying at RB.

Unfortunately guys the press have been ill-informed & infact City are well ahead of us in the race.

It turns out that Petrov is actually really good friends with Dickov and has never even heard of Berbatov.

They were excellent together at Newcastle. For a while I thought they'd go on to become Englands CM pairing.

pretty certain he didnt joey, he was playing CM at ipswich at the time. infact i dont think i can recall him ever having played there for newcastle, i do remember him doing it for england though.

the fact that he now says it was his biggest mistake doesnt wash with me, he would say that after everyone took robsons side, it says a lot about his character that he was more interested in himself than the team and rather than listen to a great footbal man like sir bobby he decided he knew better, i wouldnt touch him with a bargepole an overpaid prima donna if ever there was one.

Citeh could sign Petrov only if we don't want him. He prefers Spurs, Berba and London any day.

I agree.
I think its only a matter of time before we hear an announcement. He said in an interview that he would prefer us because we are in europe.

Anyone who thinks that any player (Petrov or otherwise) would choose to join Man City rather than us is a complete idiot. The only way he'd join City is if he was:
a) desperate to move
b) no other team wanted him (including us)
c) they held a gun to his head

He 100% was a RB. He may have played CM at times for Ipswich, but he went to Newcastle as a RB.

As for saying it was his biggest regret, I'd say you had a point if he came out and said it the next day, but he said this last season, about 3 years on from the incident. He didn't even need to bring it back up, so it is obviously something that he genuinley regretted.

well joey this was 3 months after he signed for newcastle

Increasingly resisting the temptation to dwell on the ball or beat one defender too many, Dyer's give-and-go game is proving pleasingly selfless. Such burgeoning maturity persuaded Robson to relocate him from right wing to a roving, attacking, central midfield brief.
"Mr Robson told me he was giving me a free role, he asked me to take the chance and fully express myself. I love this role because I can make more runs and I'm in the thick of the action. I'll play anywhere for the team but central midfield is where games are won and lost. I played right wing-back for England Under-21s and it worked quite well but I don't really like being stuck out there because you can go ages without receiving the ball."

they won loads of trophies didnt they

petrov is different to lennon, if hecan muck in with the CM it could work

iv been sying for a long time yo can gave two wingers t lennon mould (ie swp) just is asking fro trouble
