Two superb assists for Kane. I think I prefer the first for it catching them off guard but the second was inch perfect.

Doherty was very good throughout tonight. Great passing. Good link up with Kulu. First choice now.

Man of the match for me, which is something I thought I’d never say. Utd are going to be a very interesting test to see how far he’s come. But credit it where it’s due, he was excellent tonight.

I've slaughtered Doherty but credit where it's due, he's looking so much better and no small coincidence that Deki is ahead of him providing intelligence.

Also watching the analysis and all the focus is on Kane's finishing but far too little is given to the quality of pass from Doherty because if this was Trent Alexander-Arnold or KdB we'd damn well know about it!

Yeah I think this factor could be massive for him.

Part of the reason he thrived at Wolves was because of his intelligent link up play with Jiminez and the Wolves midfielders. Now that he's got someone in Kulusevski who is both intelligent on the ball and able to hold it up, a bit like a striker, it brings Doherty into the game a lot more. Add in Romero, Bentancur and most of all Kane moving the ball well and it gives him the chance to get high up the pitch where he's most effective.

Compare that with being low on confidence and minutes and sandwiched between 2 headless chickens in Lucas and Sanchez. He was objectively shit, but it's becoming clear there were multiple reasons for that.

No idea where those through balls came from though... :wideyed:

That’s the Doherty we know from Wolves, just needed a consistent run in the team in his actual POSITION ??
Made a big difference Bentancur being there as well. He was an outlet option for him where Winks just isnt.
As others have said, a better player in front of him, a better player in the middle, a better player behind him in Romero, and playing in his actual position.
These things make a difference.
