Interesting player, isn’t he. Unusual skill set for a RB/RWB to be good dribblers and have intelligent movement as some of their key attributes. I’d say that Jose must have planned specifically for him in that role.

The most exciting thing for me here is that I spent a lot of hours last season with my head in my hands as Aurier and/or Sissoko were in acres of space and made the wrong decision or crossed an aimless ball in. Reckon we’re far more likely to see good decision making from Hojbjerg and Doherty.

The thing is its not entirely true, there have always been some who are like that but most were absolutly gutted when Modric left and Berbatov left. Now we are bigger I think it hurts less, because getting a top player isn't as hard

Things like Walker were not hard to take because Walker wasn't even starting at that time and we had tripps. Eriksen was so drawn out people were just sick to death with it, but again, we have other good attacking players. When we were less good the main reactions was denial, pain, anger and all these typical things.

Southampton fans weren't that upset when PEH, because PEH always split opinion, was never universally well liked and they played the best football of their season when he was out of the squad. People say that 'ohh its just a defense mechanism' because they are trying to justify why fans arent that bothered by it. Thankfully, while PEH will 100% have many people who don't rate him 6 months from now, he will be playing a different style and different system and may thrive here. But it did annoy me that people seemed to act as if we were signing some adored figure from Southampton, we were not.

Having said that, the general reaction of Doherty leaving is definitely more in keeping with losing players that are rated. And this matters a lot to me. People may think that there is more value in the player threads, but go to any player thread on this site, even Kane, and it's filled with criticism, because people use those threads to vent frustrations after games, while most fans ignore them. Reaction to leaving for me does show something of value. Particularly on forums as the people on forums tend to be more invested in the club than say, Mark, from twitter.
This is so true. While it's easy to scream "sour grapes" every time an opposition fan says something negative about a player that's leaving, there's a clear distinction you have to make between fan reactions.

When Aurier leaves Spurs the collective response of about 90% of fans will inevitably be "he's shit - get rid". That's not sour grapes - that's a genuine response to most fans thinking he's a bit shit.

In comparison, losing Modric, Bale or to a lesser extent Walker, will had a much more varied response. You get the reactive, spurned lover crowd saying 'fuck him, never rated him anyway' but there's also a lot of more grounded fans saying how talented they are and how much they'll be missed.

I genuinely think a lot of So'ton fans didn't particularly rate PEH but a lot of people on here refused to believe it. I still think he's a decent signing and will do well here, but that doesn't mean those So'ton fans were just bitter - they just don't know how bad our midfield was and how much of an improvement PEH is over Sissoko for a very low fee.

Meanwhile a lot of Wolves fans seem genuinely gutted about the prospect of losing Doherty and the general tone of their posts is completely different to the So'ton fans. Doherty is a true fan favourite and they will really miss him.

Another home grown player and at a very good price. I know we've had some ITK saying that we were looking at a big money striker from the prem but I'd hope that the HG signings we're making (Hart & Doherty) mean we can look abroad for a back up striker. Edouard would be a great option seeing Celtic have been knocked out of the CL but suppose he would want to go somewhere that are in the CL

Lol. Guy had been saying Celik Celik Celik the last two weeks and now "in advanced talks" for Doherty. Absolute fraud. Can't wait for him to throw "here we go" on tomorrow's tweet that "it's done" when he knows fuck all.
I don't really pay attention to Twitter but from what I've seen he's been dead on about like 5 or 6 deals so far this window already? Hojbjerg fee, Hart, Havertz, etc.

We probably were interested in Celik as well tbf.

Seems pretty clued up to me.
He’s the only journalist I follow besides Gold.
The guy has legitimate contacts.

The thing is he likes to act like he knows everything that's going on with every transfer which is obviously impossible.
So it's easy to see why some like him and some hate him.

It's actually quite funny how deep some of their fans are in denial. 2 seasons out of the championship and they think they've made it.
Mate I can’t believe what I’m reading. This WolfinSheepsClothing poster is having a full blown midlife crisis over it. I cringe at the thought of us behaving like this when United wanted Berbatov.

If anyone would like to watch a man’s heart break over the course of the day, read this thread and look out for WolfinSheepsClothing

He also said Sancho was almost done multiple times and said Havertz was done a while ago. I don't doubt he gets information but there's a lot of shit thrown at the wall too. He's a classic attention seeker.

he hasn’t said either of those things. He said Sancho personal terms with United are done but the team has a big difference in payments and price. Basically said the same re Haivertz.

He said talks were in an "advanced stage" for Sancho in early August. When you keep posting "waiting on agreement between clubs" it's pretty easy to shape the narrative.

I trust Jack Pitt-Brooke saying it's close more than him is my main point.
