The Doc will see us now. Another great performance to follow up a good one up at Leeds. A player reborn under Conte. Two brilliant assists, could have scored, quick, accurate passing. Who is this guy? It seems to me that Kulu has brought out the very best in him, the pair work so well together on that right hand side.

Makes a massive difference playing a player who knows the position. Emerson is all over the place and doesn't know what to do and when to do it.

Docs no world beater but he knows what he should be doing. He helped at times coming centrally so we didn't get outnumbered in the middle and provided passing options. This was helped by Deki giving him width and trusting him to help defensively if either one broke. Their understanding is already very good.

I like Lucas and I don't want to bash him but when he's up there nobody knows what he's going to do, it's all a bit off the cuff so I think having someone like Deki ahead of him really helps.

Lovely assists again, getting confidence in his performance which can only help.

I don't think anyone could've predicted this much improvement from Matt. He's making a strong case to be here next season. I think the clear odd man out is Royal and fortunately, Emerson is young enough and will have plenty of suitors in the summer window.

An inform RWB is what we have missed all season, much better chance of top 4 when our wingbacks our playing like they have recently

I agree. I think Deki on that right side is a perfect pair for Doherty and he’s really starting to find his footing and confidence. What a turnaround and deserves some praise. Takes a lot of heart to not give up.

While he needs quite a few more quality games to make a believer out of most of us, it really demonstrates how much of the game is mental in terms of mindset, fitting into a system of play, and confidence. it also is proof positive that it is often premature to write a player off completely.

Playing himself into contention for next season. If he can show that he can be a consistent and reliable RWB, that can be impactful, then it makes sense to keep him and try to add an elite RWB, and dispense of Royal. Matt has a very interesting couple of months ahead of him.

It’s so obvious that he’s purely a RWB. Looks dire in any other system but when there’s the coverage of a back 3 behind him he can do superbly.

Don’t even think we’ve seen the best of what he can do yet either.
Also helps that he has four highly technical players near or close to his side of the field; Kulu, Romero, Bentancur, and Kane. Versus, if you had Sanchez, Winks and Lucas surrounding him, his game would mirror theirs.

Unbelievable turn around in form, he has been atrocious for us in the past, but something's clicked with him, his confidence,a run of games in his natural position, and better quality around him.

Question, why do people insist on calling him Doc?, there's no c in Doherty, his name's not Docherty!

Might not need a big upgrade on him if he keeps churning out performances like yesterday. United will be a big test for him to see how far he has come.

Need more attacking threats and he is helping out. Much harder to mark Kane and Son if our WBs and Kulusevski start scoring/assisting. Tierney running around him still gives me nightmares but Romero will hopefully cover for him when needed. Bentancur, Kulusevski, Skipp and PEH do their share in defensive work too.

As someone with Celt in their username, you shouldn’t need to ask this, surely…
