Vucinic is classy and would provide a good foil for others to play off, but his goalscoring record is a bit of a worry. Basically he scores less than once every three games. This is a fair bit worse than Berbatov, who wasn't far off 1 in 2 for us, and is still far better than 1 in 3 for Man U where he's made a lot more sub appearances.

There is the possibility that if you stick him in the centre all the time he may get a few more goals, and of course if he were to get, say, 12 goals, plus generally provide loads of assists and great hold up play then that's still a vast improvement on what we have. I still think it is a bit of a risk though. So i'm basically on the fence.

Edit: I'm also struggling to think of strikers who've played a long career in Italy and then come over here and made an impact. Can anyone enlighten me?

Yeah, the argument is that he's usually out on the left in a 4-3-3 for Roma where we'd probably use him to lead the attack (him as Berbs to VDV's Keane). He does have 11 goals in 21 games for Montenegro where he's the main man.

I actually haven't seen too much of him but from what I've heard, I'd like him!

He looks pretty stellar on youtube (a lot of strikers don't)!

Yeah, remembered Zola after posting. So it's basically just Chelsea who sign strikers from Italy, with a mixed bag of results. Zola>Vialli>Crespo>Shevchenko.

Meh, again, if he could score the goals Pav does and provide the assists Crouch does then it would still be an improvement. I personally think if we're going to carry on the 4-4-2 business with Lennon and Bale out wide then Adebayor would bag more goals. If we're talking of changing to more of a sexy 4-3-3 then Vucinic is probably the better link man. We could just get both I guess?

Where as for arguments sake Rossi only has 6 goals in 23 Italian caps and he is considered to be a deadly finisher.

Not that I know how many of those games Rossi started or how many chances he had but it does put things somewhat into perspective.

Rossi will cost anything from £25-30m and is as of yet only proven in the Spanish league (and his frame and lack of power would raise some doubts about his ability to lead the line ahead of VDV)

Some could argue that Vucinic is a better fit for our puzzle than Rossi at this time.

Although maybe Adebayor fits better than both

I always wanted Vucinic as our Berbatov replacement, he seems to be having a poor time at Roma and probably needs a new challenge. Because his stock isn't so high at the moment, he might be the more attainable of all the strikers that we are looking at. I do think he is good enough to get his form back in a new league.

As Anger Management quite rightly says, perhaps Vucinic is a better fit for us presently than Rossi.

This.

Personally i cannot see the draw of Rossi, in our current system, and certainly do not see him as "marquee"

Klinsmann. Maybe not that long a career in Italy but definitely made an impact here.

So the next question... Osvaldo or Vucinic - they seem to be at about the same value. Does anyone have a strong preference??

I agree with this. Vucinic for me.

Vucinic, Adebayor and Leandro in - Keane, Defoe and Crouch out! Would be a bit of a dream summer....

And then I woke up!

I don't think those three are completely out of the realms of possibility - in fact, I'd actually go so far as to say that those three coming in seems the most realistic of any combination so far discussed.

if we could get in vucinic for 12 mill that would be amazing. That's about the prices quoted i think.
