He had a great game last night but there are still times in the game when we are not giving him enough of the ball.
Both Modric and VDV got into great positions to recieve a simple pass just outside their box and our other players like Bale and Lennon didn't make the right decisions to play to them.

What an amazing stat that is. Particularly after similar stats against ManUSA. Mmmm...stats...

I think there are still some people who don't REALLY understand just how good a player Modric is. He is as good as Bale, vdv or anybody else at the club (except Ledley who is of course a god and the world's best central defender). His technique, his vision etc is great, but that isn't what makes him so important to us.

It is his ability to move the ball with such intelligence, with such bravery and cleverness. He ALWAYS wants the ball, ALWAYS moving, ALWAYS has his head up looking for a team mate.

He is one of the best players of his type in the world. He could play for any team anywhere!

It's a proud week to be a Spurs fan. I may have a T Shirt printed:

LUKA MODRIC PLAYED 2 GOOD GAMES IN A ROW!!!!!

WOW! No "Modric made us tick" fallbacks. No "Modric is coming back from injury" excuses. 2 games in a row!!! Played well. Even got an assist!

What I think he showed so well against Inter was his ability to control the space around him. When he picks the ball up in a tight space or is closed down quickly he doesn't panic or rush, he shields the ball beautifully and spots the next pass. That confidence under pressure doesn't just create attacking space and chances, but relieves pressure in defence. He tracked back, tackled and intercepted and was man of the match in my opinion

I said in another thread (or live chat maybe) that Modders does brilliant little things that lead to big things.

He setup Bale for his long run down the flank for the 2nd goal with a crucial little challenge and pass. It's very easy to miss, even in slowmo, but if you watch carefully, his little chellenge and pass is absolutely world class football and equally as good as Bale's end product onto Crouchy's foot.

Modders - master of puppets. the man runs things on the field as well as Levy runs them off it.

Modders FTW.

My Daily Motion is always very jerky unfortunately . However some great stuff on there .Excellent idea to put Mods massive contribution up here.. well done that man .

Imo this was among his best performances for us ever . He was going past
Inter players beautifully .

Gray saying that there were very few free kicks in his commentary does make a serious point .

Mods won't be playing like that vs Bolton . They'll take care of that in the accepted Prem way and yes , it'll involve a lot of free kicks . Similarly with Bale. Its going to be a comedown on Sat I'm sure .

For pure footballing reasons , If I was a Bale/Mods type player , I'd go to a league where I was able to play great football (like vs Inter) every week .

One thing about modric is his ability to recieve the ball facing in any direction and move it forward. His change of direction is awsome. Probably due to his small size and weight, and low centre of gravity. It shows up recently when he's started winning tackles by getting his body in between the ball and player. His ability to change direction quickly helps this.

Re-watching the match you can really see how Modric is always preparing for the next play. He's always running into open space and whenever he thinks he may be about to get a pass he always takes a quick look behind. He obviously has a great feel for the pressure and the confidence in his ability (regardless of the opposition), but a lot of it also comes down the subtle "who's behind me now" checks.

Modric has been fantastic recently - especially against Inter.

I would like to see him - with the ability he has - step up in having a more direct impact on play in terms of goals and assists though.

There are signs he is beginning to do that and he would be truly awesome then.

That image is like something Rafa Benitez would use in a pre-match team talk...it would confuse the player entirely.

Modric first touch is outstanding so much so he can receive the ball in any position. It should be written in the players contract to give the ball to Modric.

Modric is like a magnet that repels away from you if you get too close

heh, do you even watch the games or you just watch other people's compilations? Modric's first touch is average at best and often horrible you don't think so? Well, check his first touch at 47:43 form the home game against Inter when he receives a short ball from Bale. The ball bounced off him as if it hit a concrete wall and we lost possession. I thought that was hilarious.
