Poch made Schneiderlin the player he is, he was an unknown languishing in a small french team till Poch took a risk on him, you would think he would want to work for his mentor again
Schneiderlin had already been at saints for a number of years before Poch was there.

However Poch did transform his game and help develop him as a player. He also used him in a way other mangers didn't. His new role and importance to the saints thanks to Poch was key to why he got into the French national team. The only logical reason to why he would choose us at all (he won't btw, but just as an example) would be because Pochettino would use him in a way that the likes of Wenger and Van Gaal wouldn't. The only other manager I can see using him in his preferred method of playing is Mourinho if he was to partner him with Matic.

Just wiki'd him, he went from a nobody into the top holding midfielder in the country in 2013/14and fans player of the year, that shows that it was a direct result of Poch's coaching

He needs to repay Poch by signing for us

Lol how can you say he was a no one if you knew nothing about him? You've very little evidence to be making judgments on his career

They already have Coquelin in DM, who unfortunately is a fantastic player

Can't work out why they need MS unless he is either going to play out of position, or will be a squad player

MS will get less money from us but be able to play his natural game

I am sure he was a capable player but he only won player of the year from fans when Poch was his coach

He played probably 150 matches for Saints before Pochettino arrived. Case closed.
Additionally, for me, his best season was the 2012/2013 season. Pochettino was coach for 1/2 that season.

Yes i understand totally which is why i was suprised that so many Forum members actually believed we could get someone like this knowing that firstly southamptons valuation would differ greatly from ours (no suprise there) and also the fact he has stated his desire to play for a champions league side.
On both these points the move would struggle to get off the ground, i do wonder whether from our side the club was hoping that his so called chummy relationship with poch would maybe result in him handing in a transfer request.
Whatever happens from now we need someone in as soon as we can because this position is a priority one.
I don't believe he said he wants to play for a CL side I believe he said he wants to play in the CL, what he also said was that his decision was made, his decision to leave Southampton in which case their valuation is not necessarily what they will have to accept plus of course if we can convince him to come to us we can then stump up a fee with his club.
That fee may be what they want or less but we have at this time either offered nothing at all or we have offered something suitable, it must be one or the other because we have been given permission to talk to him, given that our ITK is correct.
I think what we forget is that Schneiderlin is not one of the top tier worldies which therefore rules out the leading clubs; just because we want him as our number one target others may not.

It's not easy to sell them, I accept that. But it's not unreasonable to say that at least half will go. And that's probably what? £15-25m worth and about £150-200k in wages.

No 1 priority for me is a goalscoring striker to act as no 2 to Kane

So if we only raise £15m - £20m from sales, we are not spending all that on a CM.

Hopefully we sell more and can get both a striker and a CM - but I doubt we want to or can spend £25m on a CM. If that is what Southampton want, its time to move on

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there itk that stated we would find out, one way or the other, Morgan's position fairly quickly? If my memory serves me correctly, to me that means that an offer has been made, discussions are taking place and its time-limited. If he says no we move on.

If I had to guess, one of us met the evaluation and all interested parties matched it, making it morgan's decision at this point

Schneiderlin deal likely to be in the region of £24m. Arsenal is preferred destination. Tottenham bid not reached valuation.
Murray Groves... Murray Groves... Murray... Groves...
Aren't 2 of the hosts on Talksport called Colin Murray and Perry Groves?
Just saying...
