He is a good finisher true enough, but what confidence can we have that he can fulfill that pressing ability after his recovery?
I hope I'm wrong if it comes to be, but I simply cannot fathom a reason from the surface why we'd get Rodriguez with a recently snipped ACL over a healthy player with the pace to press and versatility of style in Konoplyanka. Utterly mind-boggling to me.
I agree its a risk but he'll be even cheaper (and less complicated) than Kono and also home grown importantly.
As for him getting goals in behind it is worth noting that Soton had the highest average possession in the league last year, so teams weren't exactly camped in the Soton half.
