It's important we keep VDV, Sandro, Palacios, Bale, Kaboul, Gallas (for at least another year) and to a lesser degree Crouch, Kranjcar and Lennon. Unless we can upgrade them obviously.

The rest of the squad should be easier to upgrade and should be as soon as is humanly possibly. Corluka, Hutton, Dawson, Bassong, Ekotto, Jenas, Huddelstone, Defoe, Pav, Keane. I don't think Walker or Rose are the solution either.

I rate Gomes, Corluka, Walker, Kaboul, Dawson, Gallas, Bassong, King, Ekotto, Rose, Lennon, Huddlestone, Sandro, Palacios, Bale, Kranjcar and Van Der Vaart

Cudicini is a solid enough backup
Friedel hopefully doesn't take Gomes' place, and if he doesn't then it makes it an unnecessary signing
Hutton should go
Naughton should go on loan to a PL side
Khumalo I have no idea about, strange signing
Bentley should go
Jenas I wouldn't miss
Pienaar the same
Gio has talent but can't see him ever making it here
Keane should go
Defoe can go if we get someone better
Crouch ditto
Pav I'd be tempted to keep as he can do the unexpected, won't lose sleep if we replace him with someone better though

Crouch? Perish the thought. It was a dark day when he bought that sack of shite.

And we'll just bang Kranjcar into the microwave to defrost him, eh? Such a ridiculous situation.

Modric.

He's the most important player to keep. not because of what he will or won't bring to the team next season, but to send a message that we aren't going to bow down and be shafted by players or the mega rich anymore. quote]

This.

A month ago I would've said Modric. Now, it's undoubtedly Sandro.

As rabbikeane said ... in a year or two, we'll have another Modric situation on our hands with Sandro if he progresses as well as we all expect.

Hasn't Bale said that he would leave the club if Modric does so? If we don't upgrade our strike force (and I do not mean for the likes of Carlton Cole or his ilk), then Sandro may also want to leave in a season or two.

Yup. Did you see his reaction to Pav scoring the last minute winner against Birmingham? He fell to the floor with a reaction you'd expect at the final whistle of the champions league final. That's what you call a winning mentality. Hopefully another strong season for him this year.
