If you wanted to be sure of a good spot or your favourite spot in the ground you had to be in the ground 2 hours or more before the kick off and stand the whole time on freezing cold days.

For big matches you had to travel to WHL wait in line for up to 24 hours in freezing cold just to buy a ticket with lines of people stretching for miles and then travel & line up again to get in for the match a week or two later.

Sometimes after waitin hours in line the tickets would be sold out and you were turned away.

It wasnt that much fun.

I remember if you were wearing a pair of DM's you'd have to remove the laces if they were steel toe caps.

In the early 1970's at Highfield Rd, Coventry's old ground the police used to make away supporters take off their boots, so one season everyone in my old crowd went in white plimsolls - no trainers back in those days.

Memories, memories. Yes Dougal we're getting older, but we did see the Double team, Blanchflower, John White, Dave MacKay, Jimmy Greaves, Alan Gilzean etc. and have memories that younger supporters cannot match.

Standing behind the goal on the terrace watching the ball fire in towards the top corner of Pat's goal and then seeing a horizontal Jennings arch up and pluck it out of the air one-handed.

Who else remembers paying 15p to get in the boys entrance in Worcester Avenue ? and taking in an old wooden beer crate to stand on. I still miss my bag of peanuts from the seller who used to wander all over the ground. How times have changed.

He had hands like a bunch of bananas, no gloves and those heavy old balls. He was amazing.

You, Sir, obviously do not remember Jason Dozzell scoring against Swindon....

I remember going up to Goodison for an FA Cup game with John Lacy and Paul Price as our centre halves, does that count ? Oh wait you meant good memories. Well my highlight has to be Ossie's testimonial at the Lane, seeing Maradona in a Spurs shirt in the same team as Hoddle and Waddle, I've still not witnessed anything better as a Spurs fan.

For you youngsters just think of Messi playing for Spurs with Bale and Modric but in a few years when they are both several levels better than they are today. Better still buy the video (not DVD) from the club and see it for yourself.

It was amazing, Maradonna looked as if he had played with Hoddle and Ardiles for years.

Talking about Hoddle (which we weren't) does anyone remember the night he passed Feynoord (I think) to death and they had Johan Cruyff and a young Ruud Gullit in their team? I think we were about 4-0 up at half time.

Yes, after one of his passes where it appeared he had eyes in the back of his head the guy in front of me who must have been in his 40s stood up and shouted out what is still my most memorable quote from a fan at the Lane when he said "I'd be a poof for you Hoddle". Today he'd probably be thrown out for homophobia but at the time the show of love for Hoddle was reflective of how we all felt.

My own personal favourite Glenda memory came at Vicarage Road when we were sitting behind him at the corner of the pitch when he chipped their GK (Sherwood, can't remember his first name). Pure class.
