A lot of United fans saying its an excellent signing for Spurs

http://www.redcafe.net/f9/moussa-dembele-350202/index27.html

I went to that link to check it out...the ManU fans are - as a whole - more complimentary of Spurs than most other fanbases...

and then I saw this from one of the ManU faithful and freaking lost it:

"Imagine if Levy was at United. We'd have signed Mvila for 10m two years ago and sold Ronnie for 150m"

He's going to be an absolute beast next to Sandro. I'm excited for the Norwich game and the rest of our season. Vertonghen will give him a warm welcome too.

The Fulham fans are absolutely gutted, he has been sensational for them and will be for us I am sure.

For me when Vertonghen started following Dembele, I started to believe we would get him until it seemed Man Utd were flirting with him

Apparently O/T Manc fans have been saying that Fergie wanted Sahin to recreate the Sahin/Kagawa partnership from dortmund but apparently Mourinho said he wasn't good enough as he didn't have the hunger and wasn't fit enough and was slow

very very good player. He has a rare combination of excellent touch, control and acceleration. Making it extremely difficult to win balls off from

Liked him as a player for a long time now and have always said that when he turns up for Fulham, he can destroy teams.

I think that is his problem though, his consistency. £15m is a lot of money!

Jesus that CharleySurf on redcafe is a complete ****. Typical United fan, suppose he's from Croydon or something.

One of my best friends is Fulham season ticket holder. He's been raving about him for a year, and said last night that if Luka goes for £30m, then dembele is worth at least as much. He thinks at £15m it's the buy of the summer. (personally I think Adam Johnson at £10m is the buy of the summer but let's see??

I don't think he has a problem with consistency since he's been in midfield. I think £15m is a bargain for him. He's only been in midfield since the start of the year and he's just got better and better

I hope we play him in Luka's position, rather than further up the pitch. A lot of people are assuming he's a Rafa replacement or that he'll play behind the striker, but that's not where he's best. His all round play is excellent: good, accurate passing, good tackling, very comfortable on the ball, but he doesn't score or create anywhere near enough to be our no.1 choice in the Rafa/Sig position.

I think we are too late with Dembele, as he has been well known for a long time. I wanted him when he was in Holland, but at the time, the transfer fee was reasonable. Now I think it is overprice.
At least he is of African decent. His full name is: Moussa Sidi Yaya Dembélé.

Check out the link above where he destroyed us in the 4-0 mauling FA cup tie. Remember that he was more of CF minded player before Jol (or maybe Hughes?) played him deeper in midfield.

Mate, I'm not trying to come down on you here, I swear.

But you already admitted you hadn't seem much of him, and if you had, for both Fulham and Belgium, then you would realize why he is so highly rated and sought after. Even Man U was after him (or at least in talks at the very least), and so were several other top clubs if you believe the rumours.

I'd suggest you check out some of the videos on youtube demonstrating his skills. Does he score a lot of goals? No. But take into account he plays more towards the back (or central mid at the furthest forward) and then analyze his performance in those vids, the goals he has scored, the plays he has made etc and make the same comment. The guy is a fucking beast, is in the top 5 for tackles per year in the PL (at the least) and his passing and midfield creativity is second to none.

Many members here have posted compilation vids of his performances in not only the PL, but for his national team as well, and I highly suggest you watch them and not only that, but do so 'basic' research via google and the various online sites available to you before making a comment like that, even though I fully admit you left it ambiguous by prefacing it with "it smells like" I still urge you do some research and check back in here.

I'm not saying he is the be all and end all, but fuck me, he is damn talented and an excited signing. If you disagree after looking up all the relevant facts then that is cool, but to just say it 'smells like' a shit signing is seriously stupid, shortsighted and shows a lack of effort to even just type this man's name into google and do some basic research.

You have the right to think it is "Dumb", but I am just telling the truth here.
1. It is overprice compared to what we could have bought him for while he was playing in Holland. (That is a fact).
2. He is of African decent - Moussa Sidi Yaya Dembélé (That is a fact).

What is dumb in this case?

Informative post Ziege and it has eased my concerns somewhat...of course I have done the google and youtube thing...the bottom line with this guy is the hype is being based on a single season with Fulham.

Like I said I will reserve judgemnt on the guy as I have only seen him play against us and United (and he has been good in those games) but its really the sort of signing I would be excited about if we signed him as a back up for 8m quid.

This is a guy who has had one good season and we have paid 15m for him and intend for him to be a central part (if not the heart) of our midfield.

As a Modric replacement (I know they are somewhat different types of player) it seems pretty underwhelming.

Time will tell.

SK I don't get you , why does it matter if he is of African decent , he plays for Belgium and is a good player , what decent he is means nothing .
