Over the moon with this one. A real top quality signing.

Welcome to the Lane, Mousa!

This.

It's a concern for me IF he plays in midfield as our ball playing midfielder because he likes to hang onto the ball and beat players. I'd much prefer a gifted passing player who can move the ball around quickly and accurately. Dembele will slow things down if he plays the same way at Spurs as he has for Fulham.

He's a good player and better than what we have right now but I'd have much preferred Moutinho.

I would of loved Moutinho to and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of him still coming, although its not looking likely. But I'm delighted with Dembele, I think he has the ability to play that bit deeper as a semi play maker so to speak - you only have to watch the United game which he ran from that position even though he was surging up field quite a bit.

He's not your stereotypical reclycer, but he definitely has the technical ability and brain to use the ball well from a similar position.

Ideally though, a 4-3-3 with Mountinho, Sandro and Dembele/Sig would of been perfect (assuming VDV was sold - which I'm obviously against)

At 25 million, Moutinho's value isn't going to rise any further - levy knows this and ultimately that's a huge deterrent for him I would imagine.

I'm sure we'll have our answers in the next 48 hours or so.

Speak of the devil we've just signed him!!!! Delighted :)

I am in the would have preferred Moutinho camp, but this looks like a very good signing to me.

I would've kept Kranky and signed Moutinho instead of Dembele and Sig.

VDV must stay.

DEMBELE DEAL AGREED

Posted 29 August 2012 4:06pm
We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Fulham for the transfer of Mousa Dembele.
The Belgium international has won many admirers with his performances in the Premier League since arriving at Craven Cottage in August 2010 from AZ Alkmaar, with who he won the Eredivisie league title in 2009.
Dembele originally joined Fulham as a forward, although his ability to drive forward with the ball and his eye for a pass saw him played in an attacking midfield role last season, a move that proved a huge success. In total, he made 74 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring seven times.

The Club can today confirm that it has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of midfielder Mousa Dembélé.
The 25-year-old Belgian international has successfully completed a medical and will sign for an undisclosed fee.
Following two full seasons at Craven Cottage, the Club would like to thank Mousa for his contribution and wish him well throughout the rest of his career.

Repeating what I mentioned in one of the daily ITK threads but with some more detail and as many have said. And before I write this I just want to say that I’m a big fan of Dembele and am absolutely in agreement with signing him. But….Modric he is not. And we must not judge him on that.

He has some of Modric’s attributes – dribbling ability in tight situations and sudden (and in fact hyper) acceleration away from the opponent. He can also spot a decent pass now and again. Add to that he has more pace and strength and tackling ability. But what he lacks (compared to Modric) is the ability to play with his head up and spread the ball around quickly and see all of the options. He plays with his head down sometimes and goes down the odd blind alley by pure exuberance. Modric is so adept at spinning around and moving it quickly to a team-mate, not panicking and basically dominating midfield as a result. On the plus side again, Demb has time to improve his decision making and will only get more comfortable in possession with a good team around him.

We need to recognise that he’s not the pivot Modric is and is not a direct replacement for him in a 442. But in a 433/4251 with a more creative player such as VDV (Moutinho hopefully) then he’ll be great
