Who on SC would welcome Peter Crouch back to The Lane?

I for one would, and have always rated him as a non-effective affective pro. He isn't flair, he isn't grace but he'd strike fear into the opposition up front with Keane plus the cavalry in tow.

No need for long balls either as he can play the ball on the deck and has a clever footballing brain.

Crouch is awful ! I can still remember him blazing wide an open goal for England. If we want to push for top four next season, weve more chance of being bottom for with Crouch as our main man.

I do like Crouchy but not for the money quoted, I think it was 17mil.

I'd say if we could get him for no more than 7mil and Berbs leaves, it'd be worth considering.

Why not?

He always delivers when he gets the chance for Liverpool. His problem there is that there's no room for him other than as back up to Torres in their 4-2-3-1 formation.

He is very good at holding the ball and finding teammates, and also has an eye for goal. I certainly wouldn't object to a trio of Keane, Bent and Crouch if Berba leaves, as long as we use most of the Berbatov money on quality in midfield that can supply the strikers.

But unless Berbatov leaves we have no use for him.

One of them signings that would probably be a pretty good thing but lack the glamour to get anyone excited. I wouldn't be pissed off if we signed him but I would be indiffernt (as I assume many fans would be) although saying that I think he is actually a talented player who brings alot of height and is also able to link play well with an excellent touch (he just looks akward doing it)


That being said, he is not going to be cheap and for the money required I would hope we could do better (although using last summers spending as a yard stick this may not be so)
