This is why we're at bare bones.

How could it have been easily avoided by the way? With Bassong and fucking Corluka?
Did you watch them play for us this year before they moved?

I'm not fickle at all. I have stuck up for Redknapp for most of his tenure, including when we imploded last season (through a relatively benign run-in, after having got ourselves into a fantaastic position). I have said that if he doesn't get offered/doesn't take the AngrrrrrLund job, but does take us into the CL, I suppose, I wouldn't be apoplectic if he were allowed to continue. But I do have a serious concern, and it is one I know other SCers share: this is yet another slump at the business end of the season; it is almost like, at this level, it is part of his MO. I know, for the first time, have serious doubts that he has it in him to cope at this level. His methodology of making his select group of first teamers feel special tires them out by the business end of the season, while alienating the outsiders who remain, merely squad players, more so at exactly the period when we could really do with them coming through. To exacerbate this, he doesn't seem to have any comprehension of the value of core fitness training - if the reports are true. And his training methods, while being exceptional for team-spirit creation, just do not seem to be equipping us in such basaic areas as the taking and defending of set-pieces. This season we haven't even got the excuse that the team are tired due to CL involvement.
If we had a horrible start to the season, this season, but finished like a house on fire, even if we got the same points and finishing league position as we will eventually do anyway, I would be unperturbed. But I am, because, once again, we are struggling, and struggling in such basic ways, at the business end of the season.
I am not really being hostile to Redknapp - if he has just taken us as far as he can, fair enough, we all have limits to our abilities. I am thankful for what he has done, we have some great memories, and, as someone said elsewhere, he has exceeded his remit, which was to stabilize the club. But I am not of the opinion that we probably need someone who can rectify all of these areas, while combining it with some of his finer qualities. It is not a decision I reached afterthe Goons hammering, or the United game, or the Everton game. it is not even a decision I reached after the Norwich game - so I don't think you can label it as unreasoned knee-jerking. I finally reached this decision after the QPR game. I think the man has taken us as far as he can, it is time to say thankyou for your efforts - he'll most likely be moving on to his best efforts, so it isn't even like he is being shuffled out the back door with undue haste. But I think his time has past - I don't think that is being fickle.
I am a dick, however
Dawson got injured in March, Kaboul even more recently, he can play right back too. Why do you think we recalled Adam Smith from Leeds when Walker picked up a knock a while back?
At the end of January we had, Gallas, King, Dawson, Kaboul and Nelsen fit for Centre Half. Was 5 enough? You'd probably say yes. Inuries have been cruel.
Would I want Corluka or Bassong back to play? No, in fact when would we have played them pray tell? They got their games in the shit Cups with the kids and they were far from fucking great in any of them.
Play them against any of the teams that have beaten us? Would they make a difference? I doubt it.
Bassong is the one that makes me laugh the most, he is a complete liability.
Did you watch them play the year we finished 4th?
That was a long time ago relatively speaking now. I'd rather they were judged on their recent form which it seems they were, we were playing so well that they couldn't get near the team.
Corluka's player 5 or 6 times for a team in a weaker league, in 6th place. He wanted to play to represent Croatia in the Euros. HE WOULDN'T GET ON. HE STILL WOULDN'T NOW. Walker is far better and offers a lot more.
I don't think this one will catch on in the terraces SP. Bit long.

He also had Gallas, who is rapidly getting older
I agree with most of your post but this bit made me chuckle! Pretty sure he's ageing at the same speed as the rest of us
Yes, but you all firmly lay these 'mistakes' at Harry's door, I'm pretty sure it's not as cut and dry as all that. Besides again, I doubt either of them would have played much at all. We were interested in Cahill, we were looking a good centre half, it just so happened in January that Nelsen was the only one we got, now who that was down to? I'd say it was a combination, but can you really blame HR for getting an experienced head in as short term back up? I can't imagine anyone at the club wanted Nelsen to play, but with injuries that's how it worked out. Prices in Jan are far from DL's thing, we ended up with a couple of freebies. Thrifty.
It's a complete mob mentality here now and it's not what we need for the final 4 games IMO.
