Do you remember when Tiote was apparently a £20m player?Sunderland look like an absolute mess. They've just cobbled together a team of players who messed up at previous clubs or who simply aren't very good. I can't really see what any new manager is going to do there unless they've got some decent young players. I suppose Allardyce will end up there and sign Kevin Nolan.
As for Newcastle, their line up looked very odd against City. I know we don't have many defensive midfielders ourselves, but when they are having to play Goufrann there you know there are issues. I think they may edge up the table eventually, but they need some points pretty soon. With the likes of Bournemouth and Watford picking up points, they could be off the pace very early on.
Apparently Bob Bradley is on Sunderland's list and he wants the job. FWIW, theres also another report saying he's not on Sunderland's list. While first instict would be to go into fits of laughter and trust me, when I first read it yesterday I giggled a bit. But thinking about it, it really wouldnt be a bad choice for them at all, IMO. It would be a high risk, high reward type of deal, IMO. He doesnt have top club level experience, but he has managed in some very touch situations after his time in MLS and as the US manager(where he topped the group in South Africa over Capello's England).
He was very much supposed to be a stop gap for the US while Gulati chased Klinsmann. He ended up being there for 5 years. He managed Egypt during the time where it's league was suspended and the situation on the ground politically was, well, a freaking cluster fuck. Also, there were no fans allowed for most home games, and they mostly played on the road. They ended up barely missing Brazil in the final round of qualifying. He's currently at Stabaek in Norway in his 2nd year. That club has no money at all and was expected to go right back down to the 2nd division last season after being promoted. Bradley took them mid table last year and now will likely end this season in 2nd this season even though the club has very little money and facilities to work with.
All in all, he's found success in extremely difficult circumstances facing a ton of adversity, has been doing alot with very little and he's very hungry to prove himself at a top club in Europe and willing to do what ever it take to get him there. If we wasnt, I highly doubt he would have taken the Egypt and Stabaek jobs over returning to the familiar, stable grounds of MLS.
If he does get the job, I think it could turn out very well for them, and maybe even, dare I say it, bring them some stability
When you look at Kaboul's level, no wonder we were struggling at the back..
It's incredibly worrying that this time last year he was our club captain and first choice in our starting XI.
Suppose it shows how we're moving in the right direction!
That's the guy who is sparse on hair yeah? Hadn't heard about him for a while. That's an impressive resume tbh. Sunderland should fucking jump at the chance in their situation.Apparently Bob Bradley is on Sunderland's list and he wants the job. Yep. He's bald, like all the good American goal keepers(at this point, im convinced being bald is a pre requisite if you want to be the next good american keeper). His son's Michael Bradley, used to play for Villa and Roma and was pretty good for Roma then did the opposite of his father and went back to MLS like 2 yrs ago, and has been terrible ever sinceThat's the guy who is sparse on hair yeah? Shit, you've just about sold him to me for Spurs!
Ah right. He was a tidy midfielder. Didn't make the connection. TIL...Yep. I kind of hope he joins Sunderland so he does well. I mean, sod Sunderland obviously, this about a resourceful manager getting a shot in one of the bigger European leagues. We've had your violent obese kind running about on the pitch for some time now and practically half our clubs are American owned, why not an American manager.
Sheeit, get Starbucks to sponsor the league et voila, takeover complete.
His nickname is already there - coach Lasso.
Yes, yes. This is making more and more sense.
He'll keep them up.Fat Sam appointed Sunderland manager.

They have Woodrow who has done very well at youth level, its a bit soon but I wouldn't surprised if he makes a lot of people forget about KrulGood God it goes from bad to worse for Newcastle with Tim Krul being ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate injury received against Kazakhstan.

Karl Darlow their 2nd choice keeper is also injured so they only have Rob Elliot and a youngster they're bringing back from a loan
I don't think they'll bounce straight back from the Championship this time unless Mike Ashley leaves.
