A few weeks back I was expecting some back lash on this thread as Sunderland and Newcastle closed the gap. But here we are at the half way point and they remain in the bottom three.

Villa looking gone. Newcastle got a chance...

Anyone think Sunderland will stay up?

They have Allardyce who know's what he's doing, so they have every chance. But that does depend on them making the right signings in January. No reinforcements and even Allardyce can't save them.

I think Sunderland are in big trouble, but they've got Villa next so they could close the gap on those above them. Lose and they are probably going down.

Not sure when Fat Sam took over but he has a decent track record for survival so he just needs a window to bring in his type of players. I don't know why Kevin Nolan isn't already signed and captaining the team.

Looks like McClaren could be on his way out, I'm not sure who would be a good fit as a replacement. Moyes would be a good long term fit, but could he make the instant impact that the squad would need? Pearson did well getting Leicester out of the relegation places last season, but he's a bit mad. Rodgers?

I think Moyes would be the safest choice. He picked Everton up pretty quickly.

My pal is a season ticket holder at St James's and the rumour is Harry although I doubt even he's daft enough to take that job.

I've heard through an Evertonian, Moyes will be the next Newcastle manager.

If Moyes wants the job he will get the job, it has to be that simple surely?

Will be interesting if Newcastle and Sunderland do go down. They've both had ample opportunity to survive since Christmas and really shown nothing to say they won't go down!
