After every defeat:

ANNOUNCE REFUNDS

(Seriously though, a nice message and gesture from the players)

Meh, they've been coerced into doing this for the PR, not because they profoundly care about the fans or are deeply hurt by the result.

Still, at least it's something for those poor sods who travelled up North.

Good lads. This isn’t a squad that doesn’t give a fuck: in some ways, that makes it harder to fix but it’s at least a sign the ground isn’t salted.

I think this is a good thing from the team shows that the defeat hurt them which shows they do care and do have some pride - think this defeat will instigate a reaction.

The thing is though, Ive always been against this kind of thing about reimbursement - where is the line, what is bad enough that a reimbursement is in order? I just think it is a risk when you go to games - games where you win 5-0 and games where you lose 5-0 (in this case 6-1) - although I did say at the time I felt so sorry for the travelling fans, they made that journey and it isnt a nice journey.
I think that's why we don't see this sort of thing often because it sets a dangerous precedent. If we lose 7-0 away at Anfield because the referee gives Liverpool seven undeserved penalties then do we get money back? To be fair, I think fans are sensible (for the most part) and aren't going to call for a refund every time we get pummelled, but it's clear what happened over the weekend represented more than just a loss. Either way, I suspect a large part of the reason that this is being done is because Levy knows that near enough everyone has turned - make no mistake, this is nothing but a PR play from his part even if it's ultimately the right thing to do.

It wasn’t just being beat 6-1 it was the manner of 6-1. 5-0 after 22mins!!! I honestly expected double figures.

when we lost 8-2 to Bayern it wasn’t as embarrassing as Newcastle cos we actually gave it a go (see the stats from the game we had more shots than them, just every shot of theirs went in)
Sunday was sodding disgraceful. Utterly disgraceful

Probably cost them about £3600 each to do so, hardly hurting them is it. Just another way to do the bare minimum and release some of the pressure on them.

Well... I didn't see this refund coming... but apparently the players listen to what SC has to say 😂 ... or something.

Youre both right - it is about the manner and fans are sensible to distinguish between what happened on Sunday and what happened against Bayern (should have won that haha)

I dont mind the PR play - i mean we are only talking about 60k reimbursement (2k at £30) which is about 3k per each individual player - which is nothing to them.

Think its more the nature of the defeat, the game was effectively over after 5-9 minutes and to concede 5 in the first 21 minutes is just totally unacceptable.

Not the bare minimum, is it? Fucking hell some of you could find twenty quid in the street and complain about the littering. I genuinely think a lot of issues at the club could be alleviated if people stopped assuming the worst of everyone involved, because they’re not all trying to fuck us over. They’re not all bellends intentionally trying to ruin everything for us out of spite.

Well it is the bare minimum in terms of what they could do to rectify the disgrace of Sunday. Okay, they could’ve done nothing but with how the club is being viewed right now across the media it was almost certainly better optics to refund the fans for very little personal cost. Chances are it was refunded pre-tax so in reality cost them less than £2k a pop.
