Hang on, the players are refunding the tickets themselves? Not the club? Not Levy?

From a PR point of view alone, wtf is Donna thinking with that! It only adds to the abuse Levy's going to get.

It was the player's lack of fight that led us to a 5-0 deficit after 21 minutes so I think this is right. I swear our youth team would have fared better on Sunday. There was no collective will to stem the tide at all and that's on the players.

It wasn't the players who failed to buy any defenders or let one of them leave through a contract termination. We all knew Perisic can't play at LB, he didn't pick himself to play.

I think that's why we don't see this sort of thing often because it sets a dangerous precedent. If we lose 7-0 away at Anfield because the referee gives Liverpool seven undeserved penalties then do we get money back? To be fair, I think fans are sensible (for the most part) and aren't going to call for a refund every time we get pummelled, but it's clear what happened over the weekend represented more than just a loss. Either way, I suspect a large part of the reason that this is being done is because Levy knows that near enough everyone has turned - make no mistake, this is nothing but a PR play from his part even if it's ultimately the right thing to do.
I may be wrong but if the team had actually showed some sort of interest in the game, the backlash would not have been this intense. The team did not show up period! We conceded within the second min and was 5 down within 25mins. These are players om their day they beat any team in the league. We beat Man City with Nuno at the helm!
Clearly there is something going on behind closed doors. I know some would like to blame it on formation and whilst I agree that we don't have the player to play 4 at the back, that was not the sole reason for such a defeat. The players didn't want to be there from kick off.

Yeah, but the players collectively should have sorted themselves out to stabilise the match. As I said before even if we played a team of 16 year olds against that Newcastle side I wouldn't expect them to cave in like that. After two or three goals you dig in and show some fortitude. It was a farce.

Levy buttering us up pre the Poch CFC announcement.

I’ve started a effigy business. You can buy them dry or pre soaked in petrol 😂

Players are refunding the ticket costs, now the Club should make a contribution towards travel as well.

If you go to the Beyonce concert because your wife/girlfriend forced you to but you don't really like her, will you get a refund?

Is it true that the loyalty points for Newcastle have been deducted due to the refund? A mate has just told me that and he said someone posted their account details on Twitter confirming it’s true.

Double-edged sword. As you say, with the players paying for the tickets the club nor levy look good as they have effectively not done anything to make up for it the embarrassing performance.

If the club/Levy pay for the tickets then the players will be seen not to have done anything to make up for it, but appreciate there is currently more hatred towards levy than the players amongst the fanbase at the moment.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Players pay for the tickets and maybe the club make a £20-50 gesture to anyone that can prove they travelled to the game (via ticket) ??

I personally think all travel expenses should've been paid for too, especially as it's the furthest PL away game.

Whats worse, losing 5-1 away to a relegated Newcastle that are down to 10 men? Or losing 6-1 to a top 4 Newcastle team?
See, we've been worse lol.
