Gary Neville or Southgate (as long as neither have a bank account owning dog or are named in any reports).

cannot see any of the english candidates doing as good a job as Big Sam so suspect they will go for a foreign big name ( mercenary ) again.

I think it's looking grim to be honest. I never thought that sam would be a huge success but at least he would tide us over until more candidates were available a few years down the line.

Southgate's in charge of the next four matches and then we only have two more qualifying matches and one friendly this season. The two qualifying games are Lithuania at home in March and then Scotland away in June. The friendly is against France away in June. We might as well just write off the whole season and see who's available in the summer. I have a feeling that the FA will sound out Wenger to see if he'll take it.

I think England should do what the BBC did when they sacked Angus from HIGNFY....I imagine Martin Clunes knows his way around a tactics board.

I just really hope they don't give the job to Southgate by default. I'm sure he is a decent guy and good coach but he just doesn't have the charisma or CV to be England boss. Can anyone seriously see Sourhgate leading us to World Cup glory?

I would love to see Hoddle given another chance as I think he is better suited to international football or Give the job to someone with new ideas such as Klinsmann. I am fully aware there may be a Spurs bias here.

PLEASE NOT PARDEW, HOWE OR BRUCE. Zero experience of world football, or even European experience at club level.
There would be a lot of logic in giving Southgate the job especially if he does well in the caretaker role . Continuity from under 21 to full internationals makes sense , especially having worked with the likes of Kane, Rashford ,Stones and Alli.
Outside of Southgate not many choices. Certainly no English coaches stand out. Amongst the foreign ones maybe Klinsmann or Koehman.

There would be no logic in giving the job to someone who has openly admitted picking players because 'it's their last opportunity [to play in the u21 Euros]". Picking a national team isn't about handing out favours.

Are Sam's assistants gonna stay? They must be seriously pissed at all this, dream jobs for them too.

Southgate until the Spring (we seem to have no choice) then Wenger full-time.

It may be grudging, (deep breath......) but I do respect what the fella's done up the road & he'd slot right in to the hierarchy at the FA.

I'm with the Southgate until the Summer vote then see who is available.

I always thought that Allardyce was a stopgap until they got the man they really wanted and then they could bin him off as no-one would complain.
The FA could have kept him on if they had really wanted to but have just got rid early and replaced him with another stalking horse.

I think go with an interim until the summer and then get Wenger in. Either that or Klinsmann now.

Please not Southgate every time I see him I think of Reggie Perrin as the vicar.

Still think it should be Hoddle.

I think Allardyce's one-game reign can qualify as 'stopgap', don't you?
