Dragon on COYS - not long to wait now, it seems.

Nagelsman was our top choice and then there was firm interest in psg coach and slot

nagelsman wanted a lot of control and assurances re dof so talks broke down , the psg coach then had the racism scandal in France and so that left slot

levy was genuinely shocked yesterday at the abuse and may be able to relinquish more control so I would not be shocked if talks were reopened with nagelsman , if you recall in summer of2021 talks with conte broke down but then he was our manager 3 months later i could foresee this happening here

if it does not slot will be our manager the week after the Leeds game he wants the job
club did not want to announce anything and undermine mason

As if the whole world doesn't know Mason will be replaced in the coming season 🤷‍♂️ fucking load of excuses from him.

Just focus on Slot, sign the papers and announce him FFS. That stupid PR leak to deny any contact with Nagelsmann has made it no way back IMHO. It only undermines Slot if we are not going to get him soon enough. Geez...

I'm happy with either slot or JN. If we get JN it might mean Levy takes more of a backseat
Levy would rather release a new covid (that hes been working on, under the stadium in a lab) so there are no fans in the ground to boo him than relinquish any control it seems at the moment

Scenes when Slot replaces Moyes while we’re distracted by flirting with JN, only for those talks to break down again and we appoint Rodgers in the first week of August…

I know people are getting impatient, but did you ever truly think you'd hear anything public until after the end of the season? Realistically?

If you were a Feyenoord fan you'd be well pissed off if we'd announced Slot in whilst their season is still going on.

It makes complete sense to me that we aren't going to hear anything official regarding a new coach until after the season. I'm more concerned/impatient/annoyed the DoF position hasn't been filled yet. Surely it is in everyone's interest to get that sorted as soon as possible? I guess that frustration sometimes blends with the manager search. At least for me, it can be hard to separate them.

Slot, Nagelsmann or Harry Fucking Potter (the err, real one), in my opinion DL is on a tightrope. If he does appoint one of the two former names on this list then I hope there is a genuine amnesty in the stadium. It continuing will be anti what the players are trying to achieve. Every reversal in terms of result could result in more unrest/big stick. I hope we get ITK to genuinely suggest he is taking a step backwards or redirecting responsibilities to elsewhere and give us time in order to do so. I want a team and club that I support to be attractive and people be jealous of and achieve something.

I don’t know which manager I would choose in order to achieve this, as I guarantee most on here and elsewhere don’t. It depends on so many different factors and it all becomes embroiled into one horrible mass. I hope for all our sakes that the hierarchy at the club can sort it out though.

Last chance saloon or the lunatics have taken over the asylum?

Quick, someone turn up the music loud in order I can’t hear the reaction to my post in here.

Sense? Don’t bring that in here.

Our Mason announcement said he would be interim coach until the end of the season didn't it? Feyenoord were still going for their title as well. I do think sometimes the supporters rile themselves up over something for no reason.

tbh I want to just enjoy going to the games again and getting excited about watching us, falling in love with the club again, as sad as it sounds from a bloke who is to turn 50 in a couple of weeks, but I get the feeling Slot would do that, both from a football perspective but also from the point of someone representing our club to the media and outside world..
It’s not sad……I’ve not long had my 61st and feel exactly the same way…..

I disagree. 'Football people' are much more pragmatic than fans. They understand the rumour mill and that it's usually a pile of dung, they take little to no notice of it. They have a PHD in the application of salt.

Whereas a lot of fans are disciples of the house of the flying knee and react to every story as if it were gospel :D

PHD's in salt are always available if we want to have one.

I suppose an early announcement isn't unprecedented as Man Utd announced Ten Hag when Ajax were in an even tighter title race with 5 games of the season still to play.

But yeah, I agree that it makes sense to wait as it makes negotiations with Feyenoord smoother and allows Slot to enjoy his title win without it being mired in controversy.

I suspect Ajax were not best pleased with the ETH situation (can't remember if the early announcement was due to a leak). Maybe ETH had a reduced exit clause after so long at the club, too, hence Utd didn't really care about it going public.

It was due to a leak wasn't it? So it was forced and it was ultimately best that it was put out there officially. Slot is different as we haven't tied him up to a contract and we have been looking for a DOF as well along the way.

Arne Slot: Feyenoord coach wants Tottenham Hotspur job

Head coach of Eredivisie champions has been linked with move to Premier League

Arne Slot would be keen to join Tottenham Hotspur if he were offered the chance after hinting that he could leave Feyenoord this summer.

The Dutch club have said they expect him to stay as head coach and there has been no approach from Tottenham, who have Slot as a leading candidate to succeed Antonio Conte as head coach.

Slot led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title this season and the club have been trying to persuade the 44-year-old to extend his contract, which expires in two years. Speaking after his side defeated Emmen today, Slot said he wanted to resolve his future quickly having rejected an offer from Leeds United in February.

“Of course there are clubs that you listen to if they are interested,” he said. “They first have to pass Feyenoord and we have determined that everyone must be satisfied when I leave. I am now at Feyenoord and there are plenty of reasons to stay here. As a footballer or trainer you can never say with 100 per cent certainty that you will stay. There are always clubs you want to listen to, I’m having a great time here.”

Pochettino himself announced that he’d be leaving right before a Champions League final 🥲

I'd just like us to throw all our efforts into getting Slot right now. He's never wavered from wanting to join as far as I know and I think he's exactly what we need going forward. Flip-flopping between him and Nagelsmann makes us look half-arsed in who we really want, and starting off a major rebuild in that manner won't exactly inspire confidence. Also seems to me that Nagelsmann wanted Chelsea more than us in the first place which isn't a great look.

Amazing if true. He really takes every opportunity to demonstrate his stupidity.

(as do we in sticking the boot in)
Not stupidity but obviously out of touch with the feelings of the fans. I think he needs to change some of the folk he surrounds himself with and get in those that are more in touch with the fans IF Dragons info is accurate. Which I believe it more or less is.

If he was shocked into action based on Saturday just imagine what could be achieved if there was full scale protest / campaign against him.

It’s not going to make a difference according to a few people on here. I agree a massive protest will either mean they publicly put the club up for sale and maybe accept a more realistic price or they invest a lot more into the team for the new manager. Apathy from the fans will get more of the same.
