Our dear friend Mr Levy has again stated that there will be no immidiate solution to the stadium

I was so looking forward to this, seems to be dragging forwever

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/stadiumupdate060508.html

In the Club's 2007/08 interim financial statement we indicated that we would report on the outcome of our appraisals and our preferred option in respect of an increased capacity stadium by the end of June. However, following the latest appraisal, it will now not be possible to make an announcement within that time frame.
Chairman, Daniel Levy, said, “The difficulties with seeking a solution to our need for increased capacity are significant, they include low residual land values within the Tottenham area which in turn makes enabling development less feasible, along with a limited number of suitable alternative sites within London, all of which require land assembly.

“I am determined that we shall work towards a successful outcome and a project of this nature and importance cannot be hurried.

“On a point of clarity, we have taken no decision on whether or not to expand White Hart Lane and we continue to review and keep our options open.

“I appreciate that supporters are keen for news on the future of the stadium and felt that it was important to provide an update.

“I shall, of course, keep you fully appraised of any developments in the coming months.”

don't sound good does it -to use some imaginary figures I postted elsewhere -

if the stadium costs £300m - and the loan is at 6% - that's £!8m year to break even on the interest - let alone repay the capital? not easy

If the ground held 20,000 more supporters and we filled it for every home match (just EPL) thats just £22 per person needed by the club to break even by your figures...

hi Dave :) of course this is all 'back of the envelope' stuff - but the latest talk is of 50,000 - so max extra fans is 14,000

we wont sell out all games either probably (especially cup games)- I think a prudent costing would be 10,000 x £30 x 25 games - = about £7.5m? (didn't use a calculator - may be wrong)

Surely they could make the a little bit more up with catering etc. I mean this is Spurs we are talking about im sure with a new stadium we would have new highly extortionate prices for a pie and a pint!!

:) yido4 - that's why I said £30 - but bang it up to £40 if you want - tho it's not all clear profit from catering

what's that about £10m a year

of course the corporates will be expected to boost that average - but maybe Levy isn't too optimistic re how many extra boxes we can flog?

I think a delay is no major surprise given the financial climate and probably wise. I believe bank lending conditions will improve in Q3 and Q4 so we'll be in a better position then rather than rushing to make an announcement.

good post as usual Nick - but as long we stick to our 'sound business model' I honestly think we'll struggle to break even while attempting to build a new stadium and challenge the top 4 - as I keep saying can't see it without some knid of 'sugar dadddy' financing on the way

Fair play to the rational approach:clap:

I think 2 factors are delaying the announcement - firstly the "credit crunch" making it potentially advantageous to wait a few months before going out to the market for the funding, and also us having not agreed with Harringey Council what we want to do.

On the revenue generation side of things, the Death Star generates the same revenue in a season just through its executive boxes as the old Highbury did for its entire stadium.

Perhaps, but I suspect the demand in London is there. And it doesn't matter how many we can sell now, it is how many we can sell in 3 or 4 years time when the new stadium opens and we are top of the league !!!

We should just knock the west stand down as it only holds 6,000 odd and build a monster stand in it's place (like elland road) for a fraction of the cost. 10,000 extra seats and problem solved with a car park underneath (stamford bridge)
