Im sick of people on here saying we need a bit of luck, its been said 4/5 times this season, we shouldnt have needed luck tonight, you create your own

I hear you pal, we've had plenty of luck, wins against ManUtd, Southampton and QPR when we hung on, you sit deep keep giving the ball away you going to get punished, can't depend on poor finishing and luck to see out game, what really pisses me off is that we have to go behind to show a shread of tempo, desire and urgency to want to win the game, why can't we start with that mindset.

I wish people would stop banging on about being unlucky. That is not an 'unlucky' result. It's a shit one.

I'd call Verts own goal very unlucky. Shouldn't have happened. So us being unlucky played a part in the loss, but we also folded (again) to a lesser side, which is very infuriating.

where were all these defensive changed everyone is talking about??? huddlestone came on for livermore, playing behind carrol. Then vert came on for carrol and went to the defensive of the 2 left on and huddlestone moved forward a bit, vert the player who has many times for both ajax and his country played in midfield??

but yes blinkered as usual from most people on here, negative tactics must be it all avbs fault!

not a lucky deflected goal from a free kick that wasnt a freekick. No excuses we should have killed them off, but im sure I must have been watching a different game to some of you, i thought we were fairly good, played some good flowing attacking football, looked fairly fluid (especially start of 2nd half) created a fair few chances, were just a bit lucky! im by no means embarrased as some of you say you are! fuck sake! COYS!

Arsenal 4-0 down after 40 mins - go thru

Tottenham 1-0 up after 80 mins - go out

sigh

By its very nature, luck is something which cannot be manufactured. Sorry to be pedantic, but 'you create your own luck' pisses me off almost as much as 'it all evens itself out'.
I dunno, Chelsea's CL winning campaign last year was the definition of luck, there is no two ways about it.

I didn't really care about this game, but I hate losing regardless. A lot of our play seems quite laboured at the moment, and I can see that tiredness may be having its effect. I can actually understand why you would defend that slim lead with our fixture congestion but it looks bad because we're not mentally tough enough (with a young team that is still getting to know each other) to see it out, other teams can but we can't. And I wish we'd stop trying. Maybe this result will help the management team see that, in which case better it happened here than in the league.

At the moment we seem to struggle to really play the ball forward at speed. Quick, one touch passing. I've lost track of the number of times I see a player make a run, be ignored by the ball carrier, and all hope of a scoring chance disappear. Which contributes to our biggest problem, goals. We simply don't have enough goals in the team. Siggurdson isn't scoring enough, Dempsey isn't, Lennon isn't and really, Bale isn't either. Defoe is pulling his weight but is that enough for a lone striker in a goal shy team? I'm not sure. Could someone else do better? Again I'm not sure. But something has to change.

At least, that's my opinion.

Was lloris at fault for first goal? No
Was he at fault for second goal? no

What I have seen of Lloris, world class! He needs to be first choice now

I'd agree - I'd have Lloris in as first team keeper ASAP - and Verts as CB ASAp ....if AVB is going to build his team then he should do it NOW.
My point was a bit tongue and cheek...I think Llloris is the superb...but his punching makes me nervous (was all I was trying to say!)

That comes with lack of confidence (or when crowd is on players backs)

You take your two most creative players out of the team, who were pretty much solely responsible for your style of play and guess what... Your style of play suffers.

I was about to say that. It's a lack of confidence from players who are not used to playing together - the only settled and quality midfield partnership has been Sandro and Dembele. We can't expect players to gel who hardly ever play games in those positions. The bigger tragedy is that Dempsey and Siggy are failing miserably to take their opportunities.
Siggy looks like a headless chicken who doesn't understand the number 10 role and ends up all over the pitch and Dempsey should never have taken that penalty - I reckon his nerves are shot and he needs to regroup (be dropped). :)

I also think Falque showed some good touches 2nd half and probably impressed most to try and take the game to them, I think Siggy and Dempsey are shit at playing in the hole and think Falque is worth a shot in there, can he really have any less impact on games?

I wouldn't say so, surely he knew his touch was going to take it toward goal, and not away from it. It was an intentional touch (at least it looked that way)

Sig was worse than dempsey tonight tho, he was anonymous and didnt impose himself on the game one bit, seemed to just stand around watching falque and bale.

both poor anyway.

said from the very moment we signed dempsey he could NEVER fill rafas boots.

Deuce really isn't doing himself any favours right now. If his confidence was low before, it'll be shot after that. He's confined himself to the bench and garbage time at end of games for the foreseeable.

We need a playmaker and everything will fall into place. We are seriously missing Dembele and we have nobody else who can fill that void unfortunately. Young Carroll may be able to in time but the key is getting our play maker back.
