I'd agree - I'd have Lloris in as first team keeper ASAP - and Verts as CB ASAp ....if AVB is going to build his team then he should do it NOW.
My point was a bit tongue and cheek...I think Llloris is the superb...but his punching makes me nervous (was all I was trying to say!)

Bit hard to build a team when you have about 6 probable first teamers out.

As much as I want AVB to succeed I have to say that I am quite concerned by our inability to make our play count. Again tonight we were by far the better team over 90 minutes but we didn't take our chances. We had 17 shots to their 5, yet we only scored 1 goal to their 2. Simply not good enough. Bearing that in mind I think the blame has to lay with the players and I think it comes down to mentality, (which in turn brings it back to the manager). I don't know who they think they are but they are not good enough to play at 80% and win matches. This season we have played 5 cup matches, all of which have been against inferior teams and we have only won 1 of them. All these games we have been on top in and limited them to a handful of chances, but they have taken them whilst we have not. AVB really needs to install a fierce determination into them. I'm so fed up of seeing us play like we're stuck in 1st gear. It's just embarrassing.

Not really sure where I'm going with this. Just letting off some steam.

In other news, good to see Liverpool lost.

By its very nature, luck is something which cannot be manufactured. Sorry to be pedantic, but 'you create your own luck' pisses me off almost as much as 'it all evens itself out'.

But if we count the Verts og as unlucky, if AVB hadnt used negative tactics then the goal may not have come about, it just seems every time we have a poor result its 'one of them days'

I cannot for the life of me fathom the wisdom in Dempsey taking a crucial penalty at that point in the game, when (lets face it) he has been nothing but laboured and average in a Spurs shirt so far.

Bale, Siggy, Hudd even Vertonghen and Walker would have all been ahead of him in my pen pecking order.

Cant close a game out. We lay back because the oppo do fuck all with it for 80 and then we get stunned. Defensive subs gives them a reason. Siggy was woefull and clint offered nothing. Should of brought defoe on around the 70 mark to get the second. Never a free kick for there winner, the geezer raised hes foot higher than our player. When are we gona realise one goal aint enough and to kill teams off?? If we are gona persist with this player in the hole bollox that goes missing for the entire game why oh why sell rafa? Hes perfect for that role.

No shit Sherlock!

Absolutely pointless signings.

Dempsey in particular is a disastrous signing. Fucking pathetic player. He is shit.

Who is to blame for the signings?
Clearly they are poor replacements for vdv and a striker.

Levy playing football manager has jeapodised our season again!

I wouldn't say so, surely he knew his touch was going to take it toward goal, and not away from it. It was an intentional touch (at least it looked that way)

Yeah, I thought so too, he lifts his leg towards the ball. Had he just stood where he was standing it would have gone out - a lapse of judgement from Verts perhaps? - and from such a good player I'd call an OG like that unlucky. But luck isn't everything. When Norwich (fucking Norwich!) put the pressure on we folded like laundry. BUT! the 1-1 goal gave them hope and drive, which made it worse for us.

Well... onwards and upwards! Wigan on Saturday.

I was about to say that. It's a lack of confidence from players who are not used to playing together - the only settled and quality midfield partnership has been Sandro and Dembele. We can't expect players to gel who hardly ever play games in those positions. The bigger tragedy is that Dempsey and Siggy are failing miserably to take their opportunities.
Siggy looks like a headless chicken who doesn't understand the number 10 role and ends up all over the pitch and Dempsey should never have taken that penalty - I reckon his nerves are shot and he needs to regroup (be dropped). :)

I'm surprised you thought Dempsey or Siguardsson anything other than average. It's a tragedy that we managed to prise them away from the Scousers...

We need more creativity and players who can hold the ball. We don't have anyone apart from Dembele.

Are the players tired in second half ?

Maybe training too hard.

We need a bigger squad. moutinho has to be signed at any cost

But we had a great window dontchyaknow....

I remember getting a few neg reps for questioning the purchase of Sig.

I still think he won't make the grade and be sold at a loss. Showed nothing so far.

Its so frustrating when we take a lead and then take our foot off the gas rather than push for more goals. It has cost us again tonight. 2 set pieces, 2 goals conceded and we're out.

We really shouldn't need to rely on Dembele to beat Norwich.

Bottom line is every week we have Sig or Dempsey starting and neither are anything that much above average.

Yea fair it's unlucky for the team as a whole, but poor judgement from Verts as you say.

I'm hopeful for saturday just like every game this season. Fingers crossed, but we've made hard work of every game so far.
