I'm fairly sure nobody's going to go in for Rohan Ricketts.

Rohan now plays for Toronto FC in MLS after being released by Barnsley in April.

Worth noting that according to his Wikipedia entry, Ricketts is 50 Cent's favourite football player.

a couple of shots of Mr. Cent in his Toronto FC Ricketts shirt...

If the music fails him, he won't do as a scout.

Darren Caskey!

He was going to be something special for us... before he wasn't.

My personal top choice I think is Nico Claesen. Still can't explain it.

Some good names been dug out here though, mostly 90s.

My top three:

1. Pat Van Den Hauwe, rock hard and looked like he was too cool for school. Should have been a Belgian lumberjack.
2. Stefan Freund, just a top bloke, made even better when he went to see us play United in the away end with his kids.
3. Paul Allen, not the best player in a wonderful midfield, but Mr 110%. Always had weird mud stains on his shirt.

tarrico - i've no idea why though
atouba - you've gotta love those cruyff turns inside our own penalty box. what a loon!
poyet - get yer boots back on! loved the scissor kick goal ( can't remember who it was against though)

Yeah, good call. I don't get misty-eyed and doesn't follow suit for me, but he's a good call.

2. Stefan Freund, just a top bloke, made even better when he went to see us play United in the away end with his kids.
Definitely. At one time, he was my favourite player in the squad. 50% down to him, 50% down to the others.

3. Paul Allen, not the best player in a wonderful midfield, but Mr 110%. Always had weird mud stains on his shirt.
I like that thrown in for detail. Might start a nostalgia thread for mud stains up long sleeves. Not sure how far I can go with that, though.

Taricco was GG's first signing. I thought he was alright. Surprising to think that he only left us in 2004. To my mind it seems like years before that.

Atouba is/was just too unfathomable for me. The gold boots and the questionable magic that came with them. There came a point where I hoped one of our players would take the ball off of him before the opposition did.

Poyet's classic moment, but cruel, was when he went up for a header in the opposing six-yard box, clashed heads really badly, head jerked back, and was totally bewildered afterwards. He was jumbled up. Didn't know what was happening. I think the poor guy spent the night in hospital. When we bought Poyet, I'm almost certain he had the highest goalscoring record for any midfielder in the Premiership for the previous season.

...and I didn't realise there was so much love for Postiga.

Postiga came at a time when I'd go crazy for ANY transfer info, even if I was ringing up teamtalk  (pure shame)... and surprisingly, that's where I first heard us linked. Didn't believe it for a second as it seemed too odd, and never really had the belief he'd come good when he did arrive. Liked him, I just didn't massively warm to him.

Again though, seems a lot of people like(d) him.

Another one for the Postiga brigade, just something about him - desperate for him to do well.

Freddy Kanoute!

Anyone remember his best two goals..

- Bicycle kick vs leeds at WHL (2-1), other goal was a tarrico screamer
- 35/40 yard half volley straight into the top corner vs Everton

Absolute peaches

The Freund and Tarrico show was hilarious. They would kick the SHIT out of players and act incredulous that the ref called them up on it.

I miss Ferdinands cheeky man about town interviews.

Daws smiling with his nose broken.

Gus knocking himself out scoring a goal and waking up in hospital asking did he score?

Linker never getting booked.

Jol saying he will still come to WHL if he is sacked (to watch games because he loves the club).

Iversens room mate telling everyone that his fav show was saved by the bell (awful USA teen comedy).

TT pointing at the scoreboard.

Total guilty one.

Mainly because I just really wanted so much more from him at the time (which you could apply to a lot of players)

Slightly different as well because the warmth has long since gone...

*cringe*

Bobby Zamora.

I hear you. I remember when Etherington came on the scene and I was absolutely convinced he was going to be England's answer to the left wing. I always wanted him to be involved with every goal.

Now it is definately cringe-worthy.

Always loved David Howells and I had a soft spot for Freund as well.

Loved Freund, nutjob, kicked the shit out of everyone

Liked Ziege, Postiga, Poyet.

Just looking on topspurs to see any I'd forgotten, I always liked Stephen Clemence, came through the youth system, and I thought Alton Thelwell was going to become amazing as I read an article in SpursMonthly called Alton Towers where they really bigged him up as the next big thing.

and then i found this

in: 1996/97 Ramon Vega Cagliari Jan-97 £3,750,000 :bang:
out: 2000/01 Ramon Vega Celtic Dec-00 Bus fare
