I've changed my mind...

Lloris

Walker...Kaboul...Vertonghen...Vlad

Lamela....Sandro....Paulinho......Eriksen

Soldado....Ade
In this scenario Vlad is being taught how to be a left back. :D

Turn that into a 4-3-3 and you're on to something ;)

Fully fit I'd go with:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Dembele Sandro Paulinho
Eriksen Soldado Adebayor

I think Kaboul might be done so Chiriches to replace him.

Going forward I hope to get a new left back and we'll need a new cente if Vertonghen is to leave. I don;t want Dawson as a 1st choice starter and don't believe Capoue is a centre back by trade.

This is what I would go with.

Lamela doesn't start till he has proved himself in the league.

how can he prove himself without starting?
Er being given the last thirty minutes, Europa league game starts and in training. The same way every new player does it.
He may be the best player we have on our books, I honestly have no idea. How can I put him in a starting eleven? This is why I don't understand why other people have. I know it's not a popular opinion, but youtube clips do not prove he is ready for a start in our league.

It's really quite simple logic.

that's a lot of pressure to put on a young kid who has quite frankly had a torrid 9 months, perform in 30 minutes or you're out. i didn't see this rule being applied to new players such as paulinho and soldado who've basically played every game when fit, why does lamela get such a short rope in comparison? it's not like he's trying to force his way in ahead of gareth bale either is it, it's underperforming players like lennon, townsend and soldado. he needs starts, he needs to familiarise himself with this team and this league, he's not going to get that from being thrown on for a few minutes with heaps of pressure on him to deliver or against teams from other countries.

It's not pressure at all, it's how players come back from injury usually. It's not as if Lamela deserves a start due to hid performances earlier in the season.

Putting him in the starting eleven would be pressure.

Left back in obviously a bit of a problem but I've put Townsend there for no other reason than he's not Rose.

This is just now, I would hope chadli and lamella push townsend and lennon, also for some games I would swap sandro/paulinho with dembelle.

cant see how lamela or soldado can be in anyones starting teams just now.

why should lennon and townsend be ahead of lamela?

this is lennon's attacking output this season

this is townsend's

and this is lamela's

we have £26m(potentially £30m) invested in lamela and you want him sat twiddling his thumbs watching lennon and townsend provide us with nothing game after game? just put lamela on the field, play him consistently and watch him produce. soldado i can get, he's played all season, hasn't cut it and has a better performing player ahead of him, that doesn't apply to lamela.

I do think he will come good. But just hasnt shown enough yet, I know he hasnt started or played much, but to me lennon and townsend, who havnt been great, have been better over all so would start.

Its like arguing that you dont have a wonder kid in the team because he may come good.... to me its the best team we have now until lamela, chadli and soldado make the step up.
