audacious \aw-DAY-shus\ adjective. 1 a : intrepidly daring : adventurous. b : recklessly bold : rash. 2 : contemptuous of law, religion, or decorum : insolent. 3 : marked by originality and verve.

We as a club have always had players who scored outrageous or audacious goals. Our Official Site has listed 9 of what they think are the most audacious goals scored by our players and I agree with most. This should not be confused with difficult or well executed goal where any striker worth their salt could score. My interpretation of what an audacious goal is, is a goal that even a seasoned striker would not want to attempt, and if they even did, it would would be hard to actually find the back of the net.

To that end my most audacious goals scored by our players are Ndombele vs Sheffield, Lamela's Robana vs Asteros and Dele' vs Palace in that order

You can see the goals on the Official Site https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2021/january/audere-est-facere-our-most-audacious-goals/

(Yes I am bored because of the lockdown)

I think a good way to assess it is “Would I look like a dick if I missed”. See Morata back heel for reference.

How Lamela didn’t even get nominated for the puskas award for that goal is still a mystery to me, let alone him not winning it. Virtually no one hits rabona passes in a game, let alone the prospect of rabona goals.

(Off topic: Not as much as mysterious as salah robbing either Bale or Ronaldo from the accolade in 2018, mind.)

My choice, though it's not listed, would be Rose against Arsenal. You don't get more audacious than attempting a full volley from 35 yards out on your debut in the NLD whilst still being a teenager.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I did wonder why that wasn't included. I guess that a) it's subjective and b) you can't include them all.

Why does everyone forget about teemu goal against West ham? Probably one of our best games ever

I do understand a lot of spurs fans like to forget about Martin Jol's Tottenham for some reason.

Because it was a goal where any decent forward in that position, would attempt and could score.

You saying that Spurs fans like to forget about Jol's Tottenham is just crap, but lets leave it for another debate

I don't forget about it, nor that goal. It was the first ever time I got sold alcohol in a pub, boy was I drunk and overjoyed, got my knob out, the works.

But it isn't audacious.

VdV almost scored one for the ages in Italy vs Milan. The ball flew just over the bar, otherwise we'd still talk about it.

I voted other. Unless I am remembering wrongly....

In the 1977-78 season in the Second Division. Home match against Bolton. Glenn Hoddle had the ball, breaking on his own into the opposition half, racing along the right touchline. Everyone else way behind him. Halfway inside their half, almost level with the area, Glenn loops the ball way up high, over the keeper's head into the net.

It's how I remember it anyway. Sue me. The most audacious goal bar none.

The only other one that comes close for me is Berbatov's turn and dink into the net. Against Fulham I think in the cup. Would love to see that again.

We won that game 1-0 with a Don McAllister diving header :D

It might have been in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup though, we drew 2-2 at home and lost the replay.
