The "desperate to get rid" is a very common statement when associated with one Emmanuel Adebayor!

Hi WD. Yep, and ITK earlier this week gave us a glimpse of why. Shame really, they guy has all the tools to be one of the best, just a shame he seemingly can't be arsed to use them that often.

Thanks guys. I'm guessing that Osvaldo must be a bit of a dick or something? Not often we hear a club say they're "desperate" to get rid of someone.

It was because he took a 'Totti' penalty and you are not allowed to do that, he refused to allow Totti to take it so they had a bust up over it. The penalty was saved. Every player who has upset Totti has been sold.

Tricky situation there. Totti is literally a God to the Roma folk, so he probably has an ego as big & an attitude as bad as Osvaldo, yet his 'status' sees his personality excused (purely guessing here)..

Osvaldo does have previous at other clubs though, he clearly could give Totti a run for his money in the dick stakes.

Gazzette dello Sport is as credible as The Sun and Der Bild...

Roma officials in London to sell Osvaldo

By Stephen Donovan

Thursday 04 July 2013
Roma officials spent Wednesday morning in London, attempting to negotiate a deal with either Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur, to sell striker Pablo Osvaldo, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Rudi Garcia’s side are looking to sell the 27-year-old in order to gain much-needed funds, which would help the club launch their summer transfer activity. They seem willing to offload Italy international Osvaldo in favour of making a big-name signing, with sporting director Walter Sabotini thought to be instrumental in the negotiations.

Osvaldo joined Roma in August 2011 from Spanish club Espanyol, and has gone on to score 27 goals in 55 appearances in Serie A. He has also managed to earn eight Italian caps, scoring three goals. In spite of that, he was not part of Cesare Prandelli’s squad for the recent Confederations Cup.

Roma have already parted company with several players this summer, including goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg heading to Fulham. Osvaldo, however, is likely to command a transfer fee of £10-15m, allowing him to make way for one, or possibly two new arrivals.

Osvaldo is the latest big-name striker from around Europe to be linked with Spurs, with the club already rumoured to be targeting David Villa and Roberto Soldado. Man City currently only have two striking options, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

I expect a lot of this lazy journalism until the window closes. Baldini used to be Roma General manager that automatically means we will buy their whole team

I'd take him though. Decent price for a player of his calibre.

The Roma striker would have already committed to theset"citizen"which would pay around 20millioneuros for its signing, once technical Manuel Pellegrini gave the go-ahead to his signingas a replacement of the Argentine CarlosTevez who emigrated to join the ranks of the Juventus of Turin. The signing of Italian international striker would be only pending the last fringes and could Close during the next fewhours, according to "Corrieredello Sport".

Surely Osvaldo has to be a cracking option for us again. Style of play suits, can play alone up top, is available, just everything suits!

I can't see us paying the necessary for Benteke /Soldado

Villa is gone now

... What doesn't work about this deal?

Seeing how AVB has handled Adebayor, I would have question marks over buying Osvaldo, another mardy so and so. AVB seems to work better with motivated young players that he can create a vision with.

Seems as if Man City's interest has died down (translated link)...

Osvaldo moves away from Manchester City. The leadership of the English club has loosened the grip, it is turning to Stevan Jovetic. Osvaldo, whose absence from the withdrawal of Rome today has been agreed with the company, would not want to go to Southampton reason why Thursday will reach the Giallorossi.

Now that we have missed out on Villa, this wouldn't be a bad back-up plan to have. Good player.

I think he would become a cult hero at The Lane. Of course, that 'l' could easily become an 'n' judging by his previous. But worth the risk at the price imo

If you could land him at £12-14mil I'd think it could fit our budget and he's a hell of a talent (and crazy). However if he were to go to City I'd love to get Dzeko who would probably want out seeing as he's sick of being a bench player there.
