Lampard always makes me think 'meh' when I see him play for England, as I know he does a lot of fans. He rarely does anything 'special' for his team. But he is solid. He has excellent positional sense. He pops up on the scoresheet scarily frequent.

I'd have had him in his prime.

I'm not suggesting that Paulinho is as good as Lampard, but he's the type of player you won't notice the value of until he's in your team producing solid, goal scoring displays week in week out.

I think he'll be super.

Give me a break... No one has been hating on him but a few of us don't see how he is valued at £17 million. It was a good header and he played a good ball over the top for Neymar who then created the chance with his tenacity. There was nothing spectacular about what he did today or anything he have done in the games I've seen him play. He looks like a decent player, I hope he proves me wrong and turns into a player that is worth £17 million.

Whatever, I guess there is no point of trying to have a more nuanced opinion about Paulinho, I guess I'll join in your mantra. OMG DID YOU SEE THAT?!?!?! WOOAOAOAOAAAAHH HE SCORED A HEADER FROM A CORNER!!!! AMAZING GOAAAALAAAA!!!! WOAAAAAAAAH!!!!! BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD!!!!!! YOU FUCKING RETARDS WHO DOESN'T THINK HE IS THE BEST MIDFIELDER EVER ARE FUCKING IDIOTS!!!! HUEH HUEHUEHUEHEHUEHUE!!!!

We paid 16 million each for Darren Bent and David Bentley!

Admit it ilikeost! You've been beaten. Unless somebody is daft enough to prove your point by bringing up past signings that are exactly what you are warning against, then your doomed. But that won't happ......

OK... something meaningless to get worked up over (it IS transfer window season after all)

Twitter has loads of variations on this from the post match interview

Supposedly the interviewer asked:

"O gol foi do Paulinho do Corinthians ou do Tottenham?" "Do Corinthians."

Was that goal scored by Paulinho of Corinthians, or Paulinho of Tottenham? "Of Corinthians"

Make of that what you will :sneaky:

Well, he's a Corinthians player right now. It'd be pretty disrespectful to the fans of Brazil, where this tournament is being held, to say "Of Tottenham."

I think that would be known as a Paul Ince moment.... it's completely meaningless - but getting Retweeted a hell of a lot

Checked average Dembele's stats.
91% pass completion, 2 key passes per game, 3 tackles per game, 1,4 interceptions per game

The part that Paulinho will do and you forgot to post about Dembele's stats are his goals. Just not enough goals for me from good positions. I do really like Dembele but Paulinho will score more goals and that is what we really need from our midfield. Someone who will pop up and score after a great Bale/Lennon run. Sandro is our destroyer, Dembele is our engine and move it along type midfielder and Paulinho will be our box to box and all arounder. Sure we could do with a Modric or Moutinho type but I think with Bale and hopefully a new quality striker we won't need that type of player as much. Or at least this is my hope for Paulinho. I think Lampard is the perfect example of what Paulinho could (and that is a big could) be. Sure Lampard doesn't do shite for the national team but he was still a great prem league player and hopefully that is what we are getting if we get Paulinho.
