Paulinio needs a good rest....quite honestly I would let him sit for a month, and bring him up to fitness with the idea that he'll be at peak in January. With our injury record around the December/January timeframe over the last few years, we will need someone to have the energy and form to help us through the difficult period. There's a very good player in there, but he's been going non-stop since before the Confederations Cup, and coupled with the move to England, he's got to be exhausted both physically and mentally.

Paulinho's shortcomings have been overstated in my opinion. Other than Ericksen, who didnt look bad at times last season? Other times he looked good, and in spite of the frequent criticism of his tackling, when you look at the stats he was one of our better tacklers last season. I hope he gets another shot because whatever your opinion of him, Brazilian CMs with extensive international experience dont grow on trees.

I agree with the concern about his role in a 4-2-3-1.

This is great news today if we can get our money back he's got to be sold. I can't believe we will get nearly enough for him to tempt levy to sell though.

So we've got strong rumours of Sandro, Chiriches, Holtby, Townsend and now Paulinho being sold. Already sold Sigurdsson. Fazio and MS coming in maybe which would be good. Who's replacing all the goal threat lost? So much for stability. Carousel.

another reason to keep Paulinho. If we are looking to ship a CM, it should be one of Nabil, Dembele, Sandro or Capoue, and sadly my choice is Sandro.

Shame we've lost the dancing smiley and the praying for it to happen smiley. Could have covered all my feelings about it.

And those of you who give the disagrees and dislikes, please convince me, what does he really bring to the party? Even the rubbish WC Brazil was still noticeably better when he wasn't on the pitch.

That's just bollocks though isn't it, when he wasn't on the pitch Germany bent them over and had their dirty stinkin' way with them.

I'd say Lamela and Chadli are a good bet in Poch's system.

And lets be honest...only Paulinho was a goal threat out of that lot...even Siggy's return was meager albeit he was shunted out on the left a lot.

But lets see who goes first, and who comes in, before wetting our knickers!

Poch likes box-to-box midfielders. Paulinho played really well under AVB, it's only tactics-Tim that ruined him. I say he should stay until at least January.
