How people can say that Pav is a stepdown to Crouch etc is kidding themselves, Pav over Crouch any day of the week guys! The chances Crouch had today Pav would have buried them and it infuriates me when i see interviews and HR mentions Pav and it really does seem that he doesnt like him or has nothing to say about him. Hes done more than Crouch this season and warranted a start today. When he came on he connected well with Modders and VDV put in decent crosses. When the ball was on the deck today in the box i was praying that it wouldnt fall to Crouch and that it would fall to Pav. I honestly dont understand why people have it in for Pav and i honestly believe Crouch is no way near as good as him...

It is pretty annoying/boring. We have good possession in midfield, play some good passes but then cross or chip the ball to Crouch whereby 19 times out of 20 he can do nothing with it. I just wish we could incorporate more incisive football and actually carve teams open more. The sheer amount of crosses and corners that we don't even threaten from is crazy too.

I really don't like to bitch a lot about our players but Peter Crouch seriously fucks with my brain and Pav is not much better.

For the love of God can someone buy us a striker in January that can trap a ball, hold it up,muscle out an opponent, head a ball and run towards goal pretty quick.

I would even accept any neanderthal striker that could attack a ball/cross with serious attitude.

Yeah, I am so bored of watching us win the majority of our games.

Mate, come on, you can do better than that. Why not say "I don't mind us playing the long ball as long as it's effective"? Or "winning's all that matters to me and however we play that's not boring!"

Or are you saying something else? If so, say it and we can have a proper debate

Oooh this is interesting. I'm off to start a thread. See you there

Edit: Scratch that, something's cropped up and I have to dash. Women.........

Sloth, in another thread you said

But Harry should know he's not at Portsmouth now, we don't accept these tactics, even if they are occasionally effective. .

I know what you're getting at and have read other posters mention watching us is boring. Personally I disagree but I have my orders so am off out for a while.........

Perhaps this is something worthy of a new thread? (feel free to make one I haven't the time right now)

you mean the draws we are scraping due to the fact our tactic is now hit long, mis control by striker bundled goal in 6 yard box?

every game..

I think Crouch is good for VDV but VDV is not good for Crouch. VDV is a world class player but he does give us a formation headache. What happens when Defoe is fit? We have always played 4-4-2 and our squad is buit around that formation but that formation just don't suit VDV. Harry does have some serious problems, lets see how he does

Yeah, the fact that we don't always play long balls when he is playing; the fact that we are still with him in the team an excellent and entertaining football team; and the fact that we win a lot of our games when he plays, often playing the antithesis of long ball games.

But then again I watch games and don't let prejudice get in the way of that.

"If you agree what he says about this you would agree what he says about that" that is not how having an opinion works. You are just trolling as a moderator and you are doing it by personally attacking another poster.

Both Crouch and Modric are not good enough to play for us and that is why I thing they are rubbish and clowns - they are way over their heads. And in order to accommodate them we have to put on the bench players that are better than them. I don't think that should be acceptable.

I think that's one of the worst and most idiotic posts I have ever read on spurs chat. In fact it makes me feel sorry for your brain.

VDV is a world class player, while he may currently be benefiting from Crouch's knock downs I seriously doubt he needs Crouch to make himself look good.

He would no doubt still find a way to shine in a team playing a different style of football, he is not reliant on picking up the scraps from Crouch knock downs and converting them into goals.

I'm sure you're right but with Bale now a world class winger, that means Modric moving to CM, where does VDV fit in to a 4-4-2? or would you be looking to drop Modric? Does VDV even play the CM role

I like the guy and rate his spirit and workrate but I don't like the way we play when he is in the side and this is down to HARRY REDKNAPP. I've seen other target men play for other teams and not resort to lumpimg the ball incessantly to them, e.g Zigic, Ibrahimovic, Koller, Carew etc. So I think that some of our supporters concerns are misplaced. These are tactical instructions issued by our management as they bear out good percentages.

Probably our best performance in recent years, and first win over Arse in the league, came after Crouch was dropped and Pav was played after the Cup semi debacle last season. Yes Pav missed a few chances BUT he more than played his part on both them wins.

I'm not gonna go anywhere near as extreme as some posters on here and call Crouch "shit", he aint, BUT he should not be starting nearly every game every week. We should rotate our strikers before and after CL games. It's not fair on Crouch to play a part on Saturday, play most of the game away in Italy on Wednesday and then play a full game on a Saturday lunchtime.....

I like Crouch, but he cannot play up front by himself. A lone striker needs an all-round game, which includes the ability to shoot, which I'm afraid Crouch doesn't have. I cringe everytime he goes to shoot, as you know its going to be tame.

JD please get better soon.
