Another day he would have had 2 or 3 today.

But he didn't did he , he missed an easy chance in the first half and then fucked about when he had a bit of time and wasn't quick enough to get a shot away and then had a pretty lame effort late on with his left foot totally unchallenged.

And i am thankful for his goal against Man City and his Hattrick but im not sure he has scored a goal in the league this season, yet although i do appreciate he has a couple of assists to his name.

Personally i haven't said he's crap others may have, others may have even been insulting towards him.

But if a player plays poorly then imo i am entitled voice that, just as i would if he had scored and played well, i would say so.

Why is it, especially when someone has played particularly poor that people cannot say so??

I'm so bored of watching us play when Crouch is on the pitch. He can't run the channels because he's too slow. When he holds up play he can't turn and face his opponent so the ball always goes backwards. He's not strong enough to bully the CBs, so instead he gets bullied. He useless on the break because again he's too slow. He's got a rubbish shot and you know he's going to squander four out of every five chances he gets. He can't head on target he invariably gets under the ball or fluffs it in some way (the exception which proves the rule was against YBs.). He can't jump because he's not strong enough so he often ends up boosting himself on the back of the opposition an giving away the free-kick.

What he can do is be tall. And that means players can pick him out fairly regularly with the long ball and so even though he can't really head with any power his standard header actually ends being a reasonable cushioned knock-down which someone alert playng in the hole can feed off.

He's a useful man to have in the squad but god only knows why Harry persists in playing him or playing him for so long against Premier League defences. Especially as Pav's put in good shifts the last few times he started.

The fact that this thread is as long as it is shows that this is not just a player having a bad game or a dip in form. Opinions of this player have been formed based on the length of time that he has been with us. There have been doubts about his play from the start and he has not dispelled those concerns.

Today's debate is rightly about Crouch because as the man on whom we rely in part to score goals he was not up to the task once again. That is still zero league goals this season.

For all you moralisers to come on here once again and dismiss the decension as an act of betrayal to THFC is pathetic. And yes sometimes we can see stuff that the manager can't. Ask any supporter at any club and they will at one time or another disagree with one or more of the managers decisions. Managers can make errors of judgement FFS.

Crouch has been poor for a while. He will have the odd good game but that is it. As for him holding the ball up and linking up play please dont make me laugh. He loses the ball more often than not. It is a myth and i challenge anyone on these boards to REALLY look at the quality of his play and count the amount of times in a game when we lose posession as a direct result of his play and while you are at it see how many times he ends up on the floor.

How many of you can even say that Pav is not even as good as him borders on laughable to be honest but that is another argument altogether.

He had a good game against City away last season. His best in a spurs shirt in my opinion. But if he wasn't there would we miss him? I doubt it. We would find the route to goal another way and probably a better way.

Gotta be the key stat, this far into the season.

He has assisted VDV on a few occasions but has VDV scored more goals than you would expect 2 front men to? I'd say no, as such the benefit of Crouch is not outweighing the negatives.

I am happy to forgive Pavlyuchenko or Defoe for their all round shortcomings because they are genuine goal threats, I am not as willing to forgive Crouch's lack of goals for the rest of his game, it just doesn't compensate enough.

I am happy for him to be part of the squad though, in the role that he played at the beginning and end of last season, backup. Also, the more he plays, the easier he seems to be for opposition to nullify, we become more predictable and are sussed out too easily, whilst when he is used more sparingly it catches the opposition offguard.

As is usually the case, the middle ground in the debate is most accurate IMO.

I never said that in response to you. It was more in response to the OP. Who is clearly a tool. As Mike L says, he is a valuable member of the squad, the middle ground seems the most accurate in this case.

I am all for freedom of speech as a fan. Vitriolic abuse of our own players is a different story. I would rather all three of our other strikers in the team if truth be told. But I still think 3MP is a great bloke.

I don't think many of you were saying that when he scored that goal against City that got us into the CL!! I'm not Crouch fan but he's not as bad as some make him out to be. He seems to have helped VDV get a few goals too

Because of Crouch we had to wait till the game with City in order to win that 4th spot. If we had a even slightly better striker we could have done this much earlier by winning games that we were supposed to but tied or lost and even gotten a medal.

We all need to remember if it wasn't for Crouch we wouldn't be in the champions league. He is only starting because Keane is absolute poo and defoes injured. In saying that I would like to see Pav get a run I'd games. I would expect Pav to either start at OT or against Inter. WE NEED DZEKO IN JANUARY

I've got no issues with people expressing their opinions, it's what makes this place tick and what makes it great. But come on, to say he is shit and the worst striker to ever wear the shirt is quite frankly ridiculous.

In the past there's been threads about how shit Gomes is, the worst keeper to ever wear our shirt. Pretty sure there were equally ridiculous threads about Bale as well.

Those guys came back from a poor patch and proved their worth to the squad and to the team. I'm pretty sure given some support Crouchy will do so as well.

I couldn't agree more. Brilliant riposte. :clap::clap::clap:

I appreciate he scored the only goal in a game that secured 4th place for us, but I really hate this line, like he single handedly dragged spurs to 4th.

Like alot of others have said, if it wasn't for his utter crapness, we could have had a team playing some football that would have got us 3rd!

Sooner he's dropped, or out, the better!

He is not a good footballer but he is tatically important for us. His knock-downs had been useful so can't complain.

Frankly, I doubt you'd be able to tell a riposte, brilliant or otherwise, from a hole in the ground. Perhaps you would also agree with Boris the Top Mong (I assume that's what the 'TM' stands for, although it could also be 'Tedious Muppet' or 'Total Mentalist') that Modric is a waste of space too?

This thread is like watching a bad performance of 'The Crucible', with a bunch of pubescent girls going into full hysterical mode as the first period kicks in. 'Ooooh! Mummy! I've got blood running out of my twat! It's the Devil! And the Devil is Peter Crouch! He's really freakishly tall and got goat's feet!'

I don't think Modric is a waste of space. I think he's a very good player, albeit one who needs to work on his stamina.

I think you're projecting.

"If you agree what he says about this you would agree what he says about that" that is not how having an opinion works. You are just trolling as a moderator and you are doing it by personally attacking another poster.

Both Crouch and Modric are not good enough to play for us and that is why I thing they are rubbish and clowns - they are way over their heads. And in order to accommodate them we have to put on the bench players that are better than them. I don't think that should be acceptable.

I'm a Rumour Ranger, not a Moderator. There's a significant difference between the two. Most members understand this perfectly well. On the other hand, most members are reasonably intelligent beings.

A great second paragraph from you, though, which shows that you really couldn't find your own arse with both hands and a flashlight.
