All,

I know there is already a big thread on the stadium subject, but I genuinely think this deserves its own.

Clicky Linky (Nowy!)

I have started an online petition relating to the move to the Olympic Stadium/The site of the Olympic Stadium.

I would appreciate it if anyone which agrees with my views regading moving there signs the petition. In addition, if you agree (or even if you are indifferent) please get the word out to everyone you know about it. Lets get this thing moving properly, so if the day comes that Levy announces that it is our first choice or only choice, we have a few (hundred!) thousand signatures to dump on his desk. If we don't move then we've not lost anything.

It has a rather high target of 100,000 people, but I really think we can get a decent number of names on this thing.

Please please please get the word out.

That link again...

Cheers

Tim

I actually think the submission to the Olympic site is nothing more than a negotiating tool for Harringey council and the Mayor of London - I don't think there's any real likelihood fo us going there

However, as a stick to beat the council with, it's a strong one.

By signing this petition, it lessens the probability of being able to use that stick. As such, I consider this to be - at least to some extent - undermining the tactics of the Board

Sorry mate, personally I won't be signing

I dont want us to move to stratford. We wont move to stratford, we are using it as a bargaining chip to get haringey to accept our proposals.

This sort of reaction damages the weight of that leverage, as haringey can say 'look at your fans, they wont let you move, now pay greater attention to our delapedated 'historically significant' buildings.

So thanks for ruining EVERYTHING!!!

The petition won't be sent to Tottenham unless it is announced that the Olypic Stadium is our preferred option. I respect all of your opinions that it damages the option as a bargaining tool though and ask simply that you consider signing the petition if it emerges that it is not intended as a bargaining tool and becomes our first or only option?

I generally agree with you, but it seems more and more real with the days that go by and news of the background work we've done emerges. I'd hate for us all to be blindsided by it and for it to be a done deal before anyone has had a chance to voice opinions or mobilise support.

There is one massive, earth shattering thing to take from that article....

Tottenham Hotspur have secret plans to completely demolish the Olympic Stadium and take their redeveloped White Hart Lane blueprint to Stratford, Goal.com UK can reveal.
The Premier League club have also indicated their willingness to either fund a purpose-built athletics venue or redevelop the ailing national stadium at Crystal Palace in an attempt to fulfil the athletics legacy that is key to securing the site.
The remarkable proposal, which can be revealed for the first time by Goal.com UK and is described by insiders as highly sensitive, demonstrates the club’s desire to have a viable alternative to rebuilding White Hart Lane.

But I want it to move to Stratford. Then I can access the stadium easily from my high speed train link, tube lines, DLR, coach terminus, Crossrail and car.
I'll be more likely to get a ticket if the stadium is significantly larger than the season ticket list & away fan allocation.
We're a London team, not "norf london mate".

I don't think any spurs fan should sign this. The fact is we need to improve our stadium if we want to continue growing. IF we can't get WHL redeveloped then we need another option i.e. Stratford. I understand peoples reservations but there has to be a backup plan. I do think however we will get the go ahead as with all the current cuts the government is likely to want as much investment in our area as they can get for free. BUT if it doesn't happen i'll take my seat at Stratford and support my team. As for the Goal.com article - utter ****

If we moved to Starford I really wouldn't care, It would take me a while longer to get to the games but then i would just leave earlier. I don't believe for a second that our fans would encounter any real hostility from being based there and if the stadium can be built there at a better spec and generate more revenue than we can by staying in tottenham than so be it.

I will not be signing any petition, I trust levy and the board to do what is in the best interest of the club so if they determine a move to Stratford to be in our best interest they will have my backing.

We will still be Tottenham from the Lane, that is our history but times are changing and even if we are based somewhere new we will never lose our roots and tradition as it lives in us the fans.

I think this petition completely jumps the gun. I think none of us knows the club's intentions atm, but it seems most likely this is plan to exert a bit of leverage against the council and Quangos, trying to milk a mainstay of the borough. As such you have to ask yourself who do petitions like this benefit? The club? Or the money-grabbing councillors and interest groups?

I care to disagree. Our identity is inextricably linked to North London.

Only to Londoners. The rest of the world sees all London clubs as from London, not the area. Its nice its in our name but I don't think most really care about a sick goat, a possible bung and a relegation that all happened before their grandfather had a house with a built in toilet

I'm not signing a petition, because people who sign online petitions are usually the same internet heroes who join reactionary "KILL ALL PEDDOFILES" groups on Facebook.

If you want to do something, do it in support of keeping WHL in place, don't waste your energy on fabricated Goal.com reports.
