It's that time of the year again according to my email inbox. Tough one this season as no-one has really been on it all season long. I suppose I'll ignore Harry's antics early on and vote for him. Sonny also been incredible recently but had a few too many dips in form to win my vote.

Mods, couldn't see this anywhere else. Please delete if it's a duplicate.

It's a tough one this year, very tough.
Skipp was my early season choice until he got injured because he just seemed to be getting better with every game.
Maybe Dier or Sonny?
I'd be tempted with Romero or Kulusevski but it doesn't feel right because they haven't played enough/been here long enough.
Hugo has actually had a good season too, making plenty or worldie saves and not too many brain farts.
I think I'm gonna have to wait til the last game to decide...

I think there are a few players worthy of mention, including Son and Kane - but this is an odd distinction to make, imo. Son has more goal involvements on the season than Kane - so no matter what you think of his "dips", he has been more productive.

For me, its Son, just edging Kane, and I would give consideration to both Deki (3rd on the team in goal involvments) and Romero, despite their limited involvement this season.

Yeah, I'd go Sonny over Kane. Mainly because Kane was fucking about at the beginning of the season and had a really slow start, taking what seemed like ages to get his arse into gear and his boots on the right feet.
Son, although still somewhat streaky has probably had his most productive season so far.
Still tempted towards Dier though because he kinda goes under the radar but we sorely missed him when he was out for a bit.
Had Romero not missed those, what? 3 months or so he'd probably be nailed on.

I just think there were a few too many periods where he was anonymous, say around Christmas time or turn of the year. I was thinking he was not far off being dropped and pretty sure there were quite a few here in agreement. Conte stood by him though and it's paid dividends and he's been superb recently. Harry Kane has just been a bit more consistent across the season imo and has also contributed more when not scoring or assisting.

Anyway, all opinions isn't it, in general and by the very definition of this thread!

Son. And in his so called 'quiet period' he was still scoring and assisting more than 99.9% of players in the PL so....

I would just caution - sometimes narratives drive memories, more than the other way around.

This season, Son had his longest stretch of no goal involvement at 4 games (October 24 - Nov. 21). By contrast, Kane had two separate stretches of 6 games each with no goal involvements.

Overall, Sonny had 12 games with no goal involvement, compared to 18 for Kane.

(Also, Son was fine over the festive period with a goal or assist in each of 4 games. He was then injured against Chelsea in League Cup Semi's, and missed 2 league games in January. There has not been a point where he was close to being dropped)

Yeah, that's the thing. Even when Son was a bit "shit", he was still scoring and assisting.
When Kane was shit, the ball was just bouncing off his shins most of the time.

Don't get me wrong, Kane is an amazing player but over this season, Sonny edges it over him for me. (and yes, I'm still holding a bit of a grudge with Kane for his behaviour off season - I know it's petty but that's just the kind of guy I am! ?)

Son by a country mile

Can’t believe it’s even a debate tbh. He’s been absolutely incredible all season long. The only time he went more than two games without a goal was in the three game period between nuno getting sacked and conte coming in where we went 3 without scoring. He’s also had numerous assists this year.

Absolute legend.

He has been incredible all season long, no question about it!

But so has Dier, and his absence was noticed much more than any brief baron spell Son had. In my opinion.

If Skipp hadn't got injured (yes I know my bias is no secret) I think he'd have been my choice.

But as I said, when we had no Dier, we had no defence really. The organisation had stopped, Romero was a different player. We were just worse without Dier!

To be fair, had Skipp not got injured, I think you could make a solid case for any of him, Romero, Dier, Son & even Lloris for POTY.

Probably just chatting more shit but at least I'm honest.
