I don't believe that Eriksen or Dele have signed new deals yet, as the ITK info this summer suggested. I can't believe that the club wouldn't have announced them by now if the players had indeed signed, given the massive PR hit we took yesterday, so I just don't think they've signed yet.

If Eriksen hasn't actually put pen to paper before the end of this year, I think we can kiss him goodbye next summer, and that will mark the start of a decline for us as a club. Desperately, desperately need him to extend his contract if we aren't to go backwards in the next few years.
Like when Dortmund sold Gotze... the beginning of the end. They could survive without Kagawa, Sahin, but when they sold a truly massively important piece of the squad it all started to come unglued.

When Eriksen has an off-day or isn't fit to play we look lackadaisical. Kane is the heart in our current squad but Eriksen is the brain.

I might be a bit of an Eriksen fan boy but he's so important to this Pochettino team. I've seen some propose that we could just play Dele or Lamela instead. They are decent players for the playmaker role but the drop in quality would be massive.

I tend to agree - but the only thing that gives me hope here was in an article I read about Vorm recently.

"We agreed the option in April and [the news] came out in June," he said. "I'm still very happy here. I didn't have other options. Maybe I would if we looked for it.

So, its possible the club and Eriksen have agreed to the deal, and just no announced it yet. I'd like to see it soon though...

Don't think we'll have a problem getting Eriksen to sign.
For Madrid?
Yes for Madrid

Fuck Sake :shifty:

Beat me to it lol
Add Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and I reckon Bayern to the mix

Yeah but no one wants Vorm lol.

Don't know about him signing a new deal yet, but if he hasn't then it becomes a problem next summer, I think we're good for now.

Then again, next summer :troll: Poch will be gone, taking half the team with him to which ever team he chooses :troll:

I'd love to give him some time this season playing directly behind Kane. I just think it would be interesting to see him actually get to play right behind Kane with wingers/wide forwards on either side. It's a dynamic we don't often get to see with Dele in the lineup.

Personally I want to see Dele playing closer to Kane this year, and really hitting the goals again. I think we're going to need to Eriksen to drop back a bit this season and get involved in the engine room to cover up some of our CM shortcomings.

Which leads to another part of the TW debacle... we're likely going to have to play Dele deeper quite a bit to compensate the CM issue.

I've actually wanted this for a while if in conjunction with a move to 433. I actually think Dele's ability to drift to where he's most dangerous would be enhanced by doing it from CM, especially if he does it with Eriksen next to him as the guy who makes sure he is always within a few metres of the ball whoever has it, both secure that someone is playing the simple anchor behind them. I've wanted this for about a year, with pure direct wide men like Son and Moura on the flanks, long before there was any talk of Dembele deteriorating. I also think it would improve Dier as he would have a simpler role.

I think that is definitely a solution. I still have my reservations of Dele in a potentially more reserved role, but we shall see. We need him to take a big step up this year.
